Food is not good. I ordered biscuits with sausage gravy and the biscuits was hard as a rock and barley and gravy. The fried chicken is also bland. The only thing good was the eggs

This is a favorite spot of ours! Our son goes to college in Manhattan and when we don't want to go all the way into NYC to see him, this is our go to meeting spot. The aesthetic is so cozy and inviting, the food is always on point. The Hudson River is only a couple blocks away, which is the perfect place to walk off your delicious meal.

I really wanted to like Buddy’s JC, but unfortunately this was my third visit and I’ve had a bad experience every single time. This time I came for breakfast and ordered the French toast, which was essentially just potato bread sprinkled with cinnamon and had almost no flavor. The syrup that was initially served was clearly going bad—it was so thick and viscous that it wouldn’t even come off my fork, and I had to ask for prepackaged syrup instead.

The hash browns were also a disappointment. They were so overcooked and dry that there was no soft hash brown center left at all. On a positive note, my waiter was understanding and had no issue removing them from my bill, which I appreciated.

What makes the experience even more frustrating is the price point. The food is significantly overpriced for the poor quality, especially given how consistently disappointing my visits have been. Overall, between the high prices and subpar food, I don’t see myself returning. Service has been fine, but the food just hasn’t lived up to expectations any of the times I’ve been here.

Came here with family for Christmas breakfast and unfortunately left disappointed with both the food and service. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which comes with two eggs, and requested one extra egg. When the meal arrived, I was given a side of two additional eggs. Only after I pointed it out did the server mention that extra eggs can only be ordered as a side of two—something that should have been explained upfront.

I also asked for the eggs over medium, but they arrived very runny, to the point where I couldn’t eat them. The hash browns tasted like the frozen kind you’d get at a fast-food restaurant, and the chicken fried steak was small, chewy, and not enjoyable. I order chicken fried steak often, so I know what to expect, and this did not come close—especially for the price.

Service needs improvement as well. No one asked if there was an issue with my plate, despite most of it being left untouched, and I was never offered a coffee or water refill during our visit.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt it deserved feedback.

Not a terrible place, but not worth the price. Ordered eggs with bacon and pancakes, plus cappuccino:

Eggs - 4/5
Bacon - 3/5
Pancakes - 2/5 (they were very rubbery)
Cappuccino - 2.5/5
Service - 3/5

Overall 3/5. I heard people like their pancakes, but they were almost the worst pancakes I ever had.

Need to change the misleading hours. Went in at 9 PM on a Sunday. Google says open until 10 PM.
