The ice cream cake here is phenomenal
Loved the chocolate chip icecream and the vegan choices they provide
Best ice cream 🤭
Get yourself a scoop of Cookies & Cream, you won't regret it. Perfect place for the kids to try!
EDIT: I keep coming here almost every day for weeks now because I can't stop eating their homemade Cookies & Cream, it's the best I've ever had
I’ve lived in this neighborhood since 1990, and unfortunately this Carvel location has reached a point where people around here don’t even want to go anymore—and now I understand why.
I went in to buy two quarts of fresh strawberry ice cream. I was told the pre-packed quart from the freezer costs $12, but if they scoop it fresh into a container, it suddenly becomes $19 per quart. That’s an extra $7 just for scooping ice cream into a cup—which is literally the job of an ice cream shop employee.
When I asked what the difference was, the employee insisted the pre-packed one was “fresh,” even though last summer someone in my household got sick after buying one that had clearly been sitting there a long time. I explained I wanted it packed fresh in front of me, and he still wouldn’t budge. He just kept repeating that it’s “store policy,” and even said scooping fresh quarts is “a lot of work.”
Charging an extra $7 per quart for scooping ice cream—something they’re already being paid hourly to do—makes absolutely no sense. I was planning to buy two quarts, but I’m not paying an extra $14 just for someone to do their job.
So I walked out. Keep the ice cream and keep the extra fee. I won’t be coming back.
The absolute best! Long standing ice cream shop I’ve been going to since I was a kid, the sherbet is fantastic
Extremely expensive ice cream and it doesn’t even have taste!!!!! I spent $30 on 3 small ice creams! I was in total shock !!! I’ve never spent that much money on ice cream! Save your money and time and just go to somewhere else. Definitely not coming back.
Lots of variety on their menu! The coconut ice cream was good. Excited to try other flavors.
Good ice cream , a bit pricey but tasty
DO NOT BUY ICE CREAM AT THIS PLACE!!! The new owner is very mean, defensive, and nasty, when confronted about any issues or concerns with your order. Hair was inside my ice cream and unfortunately I had to throw it away $18 gone down the drain. A total waste go to the other ice cream shops nearby!
Restaurantji Recommends
Their slushes are very sweet and flavorful
Great ice cream !! Will definitely go back .
Chocolate covered strawberries were the best
This place is a gem in Jersey City Heights. We always stop here for an Icecream. Tried their birthday cake recently and it was best I have ever had. Highly recommend.

First of all, this place is extremely expensive. My dad went here to get me an icecream cake for my birthday He paid for the cake as well as some writing on the cake, but he wasn’t aware that having writing on the cake would make it okay for the employee to basically “self tip” $10 on the total along with the cake. This should’ve been said before anything, and they should’ve made the customer aware of this price or tip.
