I want to try this place but scared of the little burger for the price....Update.....Food was ok..But for the price of that small burger idk..Whataburger will give you more for the buck. Your paying for the experience of something new and different. Once you try it and paid for it the price of a burger about the size of a small McDonald's cheeseburger won't have you going back...Lamb burger was the best...But they forgot my buns...

Extremely disappointed with my order. The food is way too expensive for how small the portions are. The 12 boneless wings were tiny little pieces with barely any chicken in them. There was no sauce on them, even after I called the restaurant after placing my order and explicitly asked for an extra side of buffalo sauce to which they replied that they would add it to my order with no problem. Complete waste of money. Will not order from here again!

My regular order here is two single grass-fed burgers. Always awesome!! If you are in Hoboken or Jersey City check them out.

Tiny restaurant but big flavors! I would go earlier in the day because they run out of a lot of the game meats.

They had under a dollar smash burgers and an interesting menu so I decided to check it out! The service was great. Cash payments save you about $2. There's seating inside. As I didn't intend to return, I ordered enough food for a couple days. A smash burger, a single bison burger, and a southwest salad. The smash burger was meh. I thought bison might taste weird but I was curious...to my surprise it tasted like a "burger", nothing much different imo. The southwest salad was good...quite small but filling. It's worth checking out. I will say, when I noticed their older menu had kangaroo and other exotic meats offered, my feganism (fake veganism) arose. That just sounds like overzealous animal consumption.lol Ultimately I wasn't impressed. But hey, go enjoy the interesting menu!

I stood outside for about 20 min debating on what I wanted. Upon me coming inside the young lady was chewing her food. I said hello how are you ? and she just stood there. I’m unsure if it’s because the music was at a 48 decibel level or just didn’t hear me. But she was not warm or welcoming at all! Waiting for my burger now. The burger was ok. Nothing to write home about. I would go to 7th St Burger, Hoboken

We were hunting for a spot to try on our drive into NYC from the New Jersey side. Our group was absolutely starving but wanted to avoid fast food we could have anywhere. Enter "The Dark Side of the Moo". I'm not sure how to describe this little place besides unique. The menu is simply incredible. Alligator? Yak? Camel? Kangaroo? Are you for real? The menu items are also super creatively named. Entertaining to read through by themselves. I got the Yak burger and had them throw the chipotle mayo on. It was pretty darn good! The Cajun fries were also on point. My group tried the cheesesteak and camel burger too. All reviews positive! One note - this place is primarily take out. The "dining " space is the takeout counter and two tables with room for two people each. It's close to a park if the weather is nice - but if it is cold or rainy be prepared!

I’ve been going to the dock side of the move for many years. I have yet to have a bad meal/food item. Today after all of these years….I saw they had chili. One of the best chili’s I’ve ever had. All their foods are worthy of a review. The chili though…6 stars if I could. It has a bunch of different meats. A great blend and a nice touch of spice.

(Tookout 07/19/23 WE @ 3:00pm): Generally speaking, I sided with dark versus light meat, and it better not be mooing! The marketer in me was smitten by the name, Dark Side Of The Moo, regardless of the type of business it was. My friend had eaten there once before and liked it, so that was good enough for me. I wasn't much of a meat eater, but now and then I enjoyed murdering a burger or trying something exotic. This place covered that! Would this place turn me to the dark side not only of "moo" but to red meat!? PURCHASE Regular Mac N Cheese ($4.50): Cheesy and chewy elbow pasta, I should've bought the large! I wished it had some bacon bits or breadcrumbs. Regular Moo Fries ($6.50): Cajun fries covered with Moo sauce, crumbled bacon & pickled jalapeños, this was a messy meal with crispy fries and plenty of toppings fit for a sports bar and a beer; I loved it! Pulled Pork Havana Sandwich ($10.00): Made with pulled pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles & roasted garlic mayo on a pressed roll, this Cubana version had plenty of layered seasoned tender pork while the pickles added a nice crunch and zest. This was lovely. 3pc Pulled Pork Corn Tortilla Tacos ($12.00): Corn (flour available) tortillas filled with pulled pork, pico de gallo, roasted corn, black beans, cheddar/Monterey jack cheeses, and chipotle-ranch dressing, I enjoyed these packed tortillas, but they weren't anything unique. I should've opted for an exotic meat. Once You Go Yak, You Never Go Back Grass-Fed Single Yak Burger ($13.50): Their house favorite was grass fed and Jersey-farmed, leaner than bison and more flavorful than beef. I was attracted by the name and the fact I've never had yak before. Frankly, this was a bit gamey for me. It had an earthy aroma matched with a similar taste. It was succulent and tender, but it affected two of my eating senses. And, the burger itself was rather small. Credit Card Fee (4.00%): C'est la vie... SERVICE We placed our order over the phone and was told my order would be ready within 30 minutes. Once we arrived, sure enough everything was packed and ready. A friendly gentleman greeted us, thanked us for the order, and wished that we liked everything and returned another time. All was good - thank you! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) My friend and I took the leisurely 10 minute walk from her place, so parking wasn't an issue for us. Otherwise, there appeared to be limited parking along the main drag of Bowers St. and all surrounding streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A small box that had only a couple chairs/tables and a handful of barstools or your dine-in options, while the walls were covered with random items fit for a rustic log cabin. A decent amount of natural lighting entered through the small window and front door while a minimal assortment of electric lights hung from the ceiling filled in the rest. I couldn't recall any TVs while I believed there was background rock music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I was happy to have tried Dark Side Of The Moo and was impressed enough for another visit the next time I was in town. I was always an adventurous eater, so this place catered to me in that respect. This place reminded me of a similar eatery near me in North Hollywood that has since closed. The menu had enough options and meats yet to try, the prices were comparable, we enjoyed the food, and the service was efficient. And, whenever possible I liked to support small family-owned and/or local businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $52.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Haven’t been to the restaurant so take this review for what it is. However, at the Trenton Punk Rock Flea market, the food truck was unable to accommodate to a number of customers they were actively taking orders from. We waited, with other/increasingly frustrated customers, for around 40 minutes to either receive pieces of or inaccurate orders (I revived nothing). Two incompetent people trying to run a truck is not sufficient for an event like this and honestly the owners should feel embarrassed they let this many people down at once .

For those of you who already know the Moo makes the best burgers in town, try their tacos and nachos! They happen to be the best in Jersey City as well! Enjoy and keep this great business thriving!Parking: Ample parking is available as this area of the Heights is pretty chill!

I had high expectations, but was pretty disappointed. The experience was anti climatic. This restaurant is one of the only (if not the only) places serving camel, kangaroo and other exotic meats in the east coast (maybe in the USA as a whole). And yet, their Manhattan location is tiny. The food was mediocre (the fries was quite dry), and they didn’t have mustard, plus you had to pay extra for bbq sauce. The kangaroo burger tasted like fertilizer, and wasn’t good. The camel burger tasted interesting, like nothing I had before. However, it wasn’t particularly good. Didn’t taste like shit soaked grass the way kangaroo tasted, but also wasn’t a particularly notable culinary success. I wouldn’t have their camel burger again. I’d rather spend my money on something else. It was my first time trying camel, so I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe camel burger can be better. It’s just that here it was a bad choice, given how much great food there is in Manhattan. The one nice thing is that the restaurant was not super expensive nor crowded.
