I found some of the KCB biscuits at Balady's in Brooklyn. At first glance I thought this was a fig filled biscuit, but upon closer inspection and tasting, it appears to be a delightful semi-sweet date paste. Truly addictive stuff.
I came across Karen bakery randomly while looking for bakeries in the JC area. The store is unassuming and the smell of fresh baked bread hits you as you enter. It was amazing to see the carts full of freshly baked carbs. There were no menus so, it was a little confusing trying to figure out what to get. Ended up getting a bag of buttermilk bread and a box of basbousa (sweet semolina cake). The buttermilk bread was gigantic! Probably measured at least 12"x12". It's...
