Excellent restaurant, highly recommended. We were there on a Monday night and ordered rib eye, cheeseburger with fries, chesseak with fries and the food was wonderful. Nicolas and Dilson served us wonderfully, you don't need to be behind them because they are always looking out for you. The atmosphere of the place is incredible, its decoration is impeccable and at this Christmas time it smells exquisite. They also have two excellent bars, pool tables and much more, of course we will return next time to dine at this place. Cesar Gasca
My fiancé and I were in jersey city for our engagement photos and decided to go out to eat afterwards ! We found South House and were extremely pleased ! The atmosphere was so nice, it was all decorated for Christmas which we love ! The service was very friendly and quick! Drinks were so good and food was delicious ! I had “the girl dinner” cocktail which was a fun twist on a dirty martini and was delicious, my fiancé had the midnight mojito which he loved ! We started with the bacon wrapped onions rings and omg wow , we never have anything like them before and they were so good ! For dinner I had the Bbq brisket Mac and cheese sandwich and yes it’s just as good as it sounds ! My Fiancé had a hamburger and he was so happy with it , both came with fries which were perfectly cooked and delicious ! All in all we were very happy and very full, would definitely go back !

Dropped by South House on a Friday evening. The vibe was chill with good music and great service. We ordered the Key Lime and Hatch Chili Grilled Shrimp Fajita and the Southern Spicy Fried Chicken.
The Shrimp was full of flavor and delightfully tasty. The Southern Spicy Fried Chicken was also quite good, even though it was sweet and not at all spicy.
Overall, it was a great dinner and we look forward to returning again.
Disappointed… The waitresses behaves like she is doing a favor , not her job.

I rarely will review a restaurant when the food is subpar, preferring to let everyone have their experience which may be much different than mine. But the meal my companions and I had at this restaurant on this day is worth noting. I had high promise for this restaurant by the prior reviews I had read and that it had been recommended by a few of the locals. Unfortunately, there was no one in my party who had a good experience with their meal. I would consider the menu to be solidly Tex-Mex, a menu which I know well. As my first meal of the day I was going to order the chilaquiles (sort of like a breakfast nachos with eggs). I was a bit confused when I was asked whether I would like this as a burrito or a chimichanga. I opted for the burrito. The chips, meat and cheese were heated and wrapped in a flour tortilla and cut in half. The problem was that the dish was not hot and the center ingredients were absolutely cold, as if everything had been refrigerated and warmed just enough to be able to wrap. It was inedible. Three people ordered the breakfast platter and it was clear that the biscuits were not fresh, but had been reheated making the exterior very hard and no fluffiness in the interior at all. Even the bacon seems to have been from a prior meal service with a few of the top pieces being fresh, but the under pieces were over done and some downright burned! The chicken wings were okay, but just okay as a few of them had pretty dry flesh. The steak sandwich did not fare any better. No matter how much processed cheese it is drowned in, it will not make the beefsteak tender. The wait staff tried as best she could to make us happy with offers of other options, but the damage had been done. I wish any of you willing to try this place a better experience. Unfortunately, it did not work for us. Good luck going forward.

They charged a 3% hospitality "junk fee". It was only labeled at the bottom of their digital menu on small font that no average users will scroll down to. The waiter also did not mention this fee when he gave us the QR code to scan. This is a dubious business practice that while currently still legal is very anti consumer. The proper ethical business practice is to update their menu price to increase everything by 3%.
Main meat was unfortunately also mediocre, sour tasting really tough country fried steak. Collared greens were good though. And the architecture of the space is nice. Waiter attitude was good.
