This was my 1st time ordering here and it will be my last. My husband & I usually get our food from Gusto Latino down the block but they're closed on Sundays. So we decided to give this place a try. Bad decision. Spent $27 on a dried up chicken that was suppose to include beans, salad, & a side. The girl who works the front told my husband that they had no beans. What Caribbean restaurant has no beans?!? I got no salad either. And the customer service is not even great either. The girl that serves the food is very rude. Doesn't try to listen to the customer and is rushing you out. Very unprofessional!!!!! This place is a joke! Never again!!

The food has gone down in quality and they make up the prices as they go…unreal…the ladies working there are so rude and they want you to buy rotten salad and ifYou complain they give you an attitude and they don’t even own the place…

The food looks good but after I eat it it's not the same. The white rice did not seem fresh, the steak was medium tough. The rest is history.

The prices are different everyday. By law prices have to be posted and accurate. Charged $11 for a dish and the next day I ordered the same and was charged 18 and then a week later 15. Never going back as they price whatever they want.

They work miracles here.

Unfortunately I ate at the African Caribbean music festival in Silver Springs . The oxtail was mostly tough ( I had a few tender pieces and bones); the rice was a mix of undercooked (crunchy) and over cooked (mushy). My heart was broken; I was sooo excited. It cost me $32 but I was too far away to drive back so I gambled and lost. It happens sometimes. The cabbage was perfect. So I paid $32 for cabbage??‍♀️.

The low ratings for this restaurant are not in response to the current menu/ownership. This restaurant is one of the best Dominican spots in Jersey City and hands down the best on the West Side. Fresh and delicious food, warm/prompt service, and a few cozy tables to eat. If you are looking for legit/fresh/tasty Dominican food, this is the spot.

I feel like this place is far under appreciated during a time when eating in general is extremely expensive . Tropix is nestled between 2 of my daily work sites in Lincoln Park and sits opposite of a lot of competition. I was a faithful Gusto Latino patron (still am for different needs) but Tropix has a lot of items that are not only affordable but also big in portion. Their sandwiches and breakfast items have saved me a lot of days when I was really tight on money and wouldn't be home for several hours to cook. The staff are always really friendly here, and usually look like they're having a good time working. They take Apple Pay & Google Pay. I hope they stick around because they're a little gem here on the west side.

My favorite place to get Dominican food. The people are so warm and welcoming and the food is 10/10.
