Violet's From Jamaica with Love

I have always wanted to try Jamaican food, and today, it was my 3rd time, and it was the best out of the 3. There are many foods that are considered good, but this one is one of them. I truly recommend it !

I'm looking at photos from the people who gave this restaurant 1 and 2 stars, and I'm thinking they went somewhere other than Violet's From Jamaica with Love. We stopped here after my son performed at NJCU and our small plates were so big, we took half of our meals home for a second meal the next day. The food was plentiful and well-seasoned. We had oxtails, curry goat, and whiting.

Parking: We were there on a Sunday, and found parking easily. We didn't have to pay on Sunday.

I come here for lunch and the staff there are exceptional. They are always friend and even during the lunch hour rush they get things done quickly. The food is great as well, this is my go to spot when I’m in Jersey City.

Placed an order via Uber eats. Restaurant contacts me saying they don't carry an item they have listed and they cannot modify nor cancel order I would need to and replace the order. I do as the restaurant says and Uber still charges me the full amount!!! Restaurant says oh well nothing we can do Uber is a horrible app you should use GrubHub! Then why do they use them if they're horrible? AND WHY DON'T THEY UPDATE THEIR UBER MENU SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN! So as I told them I cannot give you a good review, I never got to try the food and you offered me no resolution although you know who you're working with.

I just moved to the area and been here a handful of times, I will NOT be back. I was berated my a man and then the owner allowed it and questioned my integrity when the man in question stated I skipped the line. A disgusting display of power on her behalf, upon asking for a bag to leave she took her time. I will also be reporting to the BBB. Little did she know this same man berated me outside the store before entering her establishment. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE. Overall do better as an owner for your customers. I also will report this to the police I have never been so uncomfortable in an establishment before.

Oxtails with rice and peas, plantains and yams have a lot of flavor and I am very happy

I’ve been here three separate times and I’ve gotten three different meals and all of them hit. Excellent food, staff, and service. Warm greeting, and smile every time. I don’t know what to recommend because everything is top-notch. Attached photo is jerk chicken, pigeon rice and cabbage.

Curry and Stewed Chicken dishes are excellent…was excited to try the jerk chicken. However it lacked any kind of jerk flavoring and was a bit dry.

One of the best lunches I have had for takeout in a long time. Stew chicken was delicious. I plan on coming back a lot when I’m working in the area.

I’ve been on the hunt for a back home, feeling of food. Caribbean style authentic style… others in the neighbourhood were a waste but now I’ve found it. No more heading to Brooklyn for food.

3rd time getting their food and they never dissapoint it's soo delicious this is my new spot for Jamaican food 🔥🔥🔥😩 love their brown stew chicken so bomb 🤤 and everything else 🤤
