“Our first time going to the Totowa location (met up with friends for lunch). Staff was very friendly and helpful - we decided to eat outside and they brought the food to us quickly. We had the tacos, regular bowl with carnitas and fajita bowl with steak and pina-mango drink. Food was very tasty and freshly made. Will come back to try El Pastor. Definitely recommend Sombrero Tacoria.“

“Genesis recommended the ‘tacos placeros’ to me, and they did not disappoint! The flavors were incredible, and the place itself is beautiful. We’re on vacation and stumbled upon Tortas Lokas Elizabeth¡what a gem! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and Karen went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Great food, amazing service, and a cozy vibe.
I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for an authentic and welcoming experience!
Thank you guys!👍🏻“

“It’s funny that some of the reviews here complain about servers not speaking English...it’s an actual authentic Mexican restaurant what do you expect? The menus are in both English and Spanish and have descriptions if you are not familiar with Mexican food. I love this place and you really can’t beat the prices. The food is great and I always wind up taking some home (maybe because I fill up on all the chips and salsa they give before the meal).“

“Don't get me started on this resturaunt. If I die of a heart attack, it WILL be because I eat too much food here. And I'd die HAPPY. This resturaunt is exquisite and potentially some of the best Mexican food in the county. First, you can get Mexican Coke. Second, the seasoning they use might as well be sold by it's own. I've tried near everything on the menu and when somebody asks me what to get, I'd say I don't know. Because everything is great. The owner is incredibly kind. Larga vida a los tacos es vida!“

“We're local business owners in Springfield, NJ and just discovered Tierra Del Sol as a wonderful spot for lunch!
Friendly greeting when we walked in, quick table service and the food is fresh and very flavorful! We each had Quesadilla's de Carne Asada (Steak) - and the serving sizes were big, we each only ate half and too the rest home.
We will most definitely be back soon!“

“We had an amazing dining experience at the Tortas Lokas.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
Staff were outstanding—attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu.
We travel all USA from east to west and order Birria tacos every place I visit, these tacos were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly satisfying.
The Torta Chilanga just as impressive—filled with juicy, well-seasoned ingredients.
Everything was delicious and clearly made with quality ingredients.
If you're looking for great Mexican food this is the place to go! I highly recommend it and will definitely be back if I find myself back in NJ.“

“No matter who you are or where you’re from, there’s a strong chance that you’re familiar with the meaning of “Taco Tuesday,” which exists across the US, from Los Angeles to small-town Tennessee, from food trucks in the barrios to high-end restaurants in hipster haunts. For some of us, it might simply call for going out and getting tacos or even just preparing our own.
Situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Roselle Park, this establishment is set inside a small corner suburban home where some of my colleagues decided on takeout, which came highly recommended. Upon arrival at Taqueria La Casita, or “The Little House Taqueria,” we were confronted outside by the neon signage reading “Tacos Open” and Mexican flags, among other pieces of colorful decor.
Greeted by the staff inside an un-air-conditioned cozy dining room decked out in its Mexican splendor with 4 tables. In the back, a colorful menu with nearly a dozen different types of tacos and an array of other dishes written by hand.
We opted for individual orders containing 4 tacos with Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, and Pork. While waiting, we couldn’t help but notice the trompo—the spinning, shawarma-adjacent log of marinated pork used for Al Pastor, which translates to “in the style of the shepherd.” Originating in Puebla, this came at the hands of Lebanese immigrants during the 1930s.
The tortilla itself was freshly made, of the corn variety. They were stuffed to the brim with meat prepared in front of us and served with cucumbers and lime. Fresh condiments of diced onion, cilantro, and avocado were separated in their own container, and all were needed. Various sauces accompanied in small containers, such as green, which was jalapeño-based; the darker red salsa was smoky from dried and smoked chipotle chilis; and neon orange, which was a sauce made from chili de arbol and tomato. The guacamole was absolutely delicious along with the chips, and we couldn’t get enough. The portion was a healthy size.
The service was fast; Maribel was friendly and accommodating. Authentic, fresh, and affordable—we can recommend this place.“

“Last night I had the pleasure of dining at Maize Cocina & Cocktails in Westfield, NJ — and let me tell you, if you love Mexican food and crave an elevated dining experience, this is the spot! 🌮✨
Everything was incredible, but my favorites were the maize croquettes, crabmeat tostadas, and the whole fish adobo — absolutely delicious. They’ve also added some exciting new dishes like the Tamarind Sticky Duck Breast and Pork Chop Amarillo that you’ll definitely want to try.
If you’re planning a visit, go between Thursday and Sunday — those are their action days! Trust me, if you’re looking for a great vibe and even better food, Maize is the place to be. 🍹🔥“

The service, as always, was exceptional, with prompt delivery and courteous staff. As a bonus, we received free chips and salsa with our last catering order, which was a delightful surprise. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone craving delicious Mexican cuisine and excellent service.“

“Wow!!! What can’t I not say about this place , the decor was incredible you can see that the place has history. I felt like going back home and changing my out for this place is amazing ! The service was Superb, we didn’t have to ask our waiter or waitress for anything we were constantly attended to . The food was great and the portions are are great. I went with my fiancé and daughter so I always order family style , so we had a little of everything . I know it’s cold out but I love a good frozen margarita and it was perfect . Also at the end Jolie , the owner/daughter of the owner also , offered us some free shots of RED CADILLAC TEQUILA , that’s made from them by them . It was very soothing . We’re actually gonna go back in a date night for the live music . Can’t wait !“

“Food was great! You can tell they really take pride in what they serve. We have the steak, nachos, beef fajitas, beef tacos, and dessert. All of it was super yummy!! I would say the flavor was on point meeting. It was flavorful, but not too spicy or too, sweet etc..
Our server was exceptionally personable, ready to provide recommendations, but only after she asked what we liked! Her recommendations across-the-board were perfect!! we will definitely be there again“

“Food was very good and well presented. The staff was very attentive, but it was a tad noisy and that’s why I didn’t rate the atmosphere 5 stars. We had the tacos chicken and beef fajitas. Both were very good and the sides were fresh. The guacamole was especially delicious.“

“Had dinner in Casa Del Rey's beautiful outdoor patio. Beautifully decorated with lights, a water feature and lovely landscaping. The indoor atmosphere was gorgeous as well. I remember when this was originally Sol Mar and later, The Castle. Happy to see they've kept and enhanced the grand European inspiration. Service was great. The menu had lots of great choices - we had an entree (short ribs) and tapas/apps (baba ganoush, tortilla Espanhola, garlic shrimp). Loved the sangria and the desserts were perfect - dulce de leche and affogato. There is something for everyone. We'll definitely visit again!“

“I've driven past this spot so many times & I regret not trying them out sooner. The breaded chicken torta was every bit of comforting & even more flavorful. I thought I was getting a quick bite at the end of a long day, and it was so much more. Worth every cent.“

“Went here for dinner tonight the first time. Food was absolutely amazing. Stephanie was our host/server and she was fantastic at recommendations. Food was delicious. Will definitely make this my new Spanish go to restaurant. The Salvadorian Chicken Tamale was moist and dense, and the flavors mixed perfectly together. If you order the beef empanadas, ask them for their new homemade hot sauce. It's a perfect blend of sweet & heat to go with the pastry dough. Their plantains were a good addition of sweet to the dense of the meal. Their flan was the perfect size for a nice ending dessert to a very filling meal. Definitely a highly recommended place to get an excellent and very affordable meal.“

“This spot is great! We love going here or getting take out. The patio is wonderful when the weather is nice. Service is always timely and the food is great, super reliable. We dined in the other night and our daughter (10 months) was starting to get restless and a staff member came out with a balloon for her. She was calm and happy and we were able to enjoy the rest of our meal. It was really thoughtful. I can’t recommend enough!“

“Food was pretty good. I had the chicken fajita, which gave a good portion, but did not come with sour cream or cheese. Thought that was extremely odd! Service was fairly slow for Mexican. Mexican food usually comes out as soon as the waiter goes out of line if sight. Can't with three for tortilla's, could have used five. Fairly pricey for a Mexican joint. I don't think the cost was appropriate for the food and service. Location expensive? Not sure. It wasn't too far from Newark Airport. Forgot photos“

“My initial review was 5 stars, and while the food is still delicious with great flavor, their portions have decreased. Their loaded nachos were the best, use to fill the container to the top. Now, it’s half the portion with barely any ground beef. Their Tacos Dorados platter with rice and beans only comes with 3 tacos, not 5 tacos as depicted in the menu’s photo, which is a bit misleading. I really love their food though, I guess my only complaint is I’m not getting enough of it 🥹 I understand the current inflation requires our favorite restaurants to increase prices, I hope they don’t ever compromise quality and portion.“

“Very delicious food. Stopped by in the evening looking for a quick bite. I ordered the shrimp tacos and the al pastor which are my two favorite types of tacos. Both tasted really great, however the al pastor had a much better flavor overall.
I also tried the chips and salsa. Chips tasted like they are fried in house (in a good way) I didn't love the salsa too much. The texture and flavor was a little off for me. Maybe there are beans blended in? Not worth docking a star for this because overall I really enjoyed my meal and will be back again.
Atmosphere is very nice as well. The decor is welcoming and the staff was really friendly as well.“
