My wife and I got our wires crossed and picked up the same sandwich order from two different places in Madison at the same tiime on our way home. Side by side C&J's was the superior sandwich - ripe tomatoes and whole-leaf lettuce compared to slivers of tomatoes and shredded lettuce, for example - but the other place was lightning quick while C&J's was slow and had a long wait. If I was in a rush I'd go elsewhere next time but would otherwise opt for C&J's....
The best of the best, the old fashioned way. This deli is run like it did back when it opened back in the day, a place to be for the locals. The food is all fresh, all made in house, and the best part is it doesn't feel or taste like your dinning in a chain restaurant, its as old school as it gets. Very local, very fresh. It is a great group of people working together with a smile and are all happy to be there, which makes your visit there that much better.

I absolutely love this place! It’s a family-owned business and the staff is always to friendly and personable. One day I’ll try something new on the menu, but I’m a faithful Sloppy Joe customer. My grandma introduced my mom to them, and then my mom introduced them to me. No one does it like CJ’s — the sloppier the better!!
