The food was out of this world. Their meatball appetizer is everything you’ve heard and then some. Incredible sauce, bread service, and our meals were excellent. My partner had the octopus for an appetizer and said it was incredible. Both of our meals were amazing and served timely and piping hot. I had the chicken marsala with mushroom risotto, delicious! “daFilippo's is a hidden gem of a restaurant that has been my family's special occasion standard for many year's. The Northern Italian menu which changes to focus on only the freshest ingredients has a little Swiss influence and is presented with an artistic touch and personal care. Last evening I hosted sixteen business associates in the back room which has an iron gate for privacy. Filippo presented a five course meal which blew everyone away followed by him playing a few songs on the Piano. The Chicken or Cod dishes were pan seared to perfection. daFilippo's is a BYOB restaurant which I Love. My wife remarked how clean the restrooms are kept. Plenty of parking in the rear of the building. In closing, if you are looking for a family owned, unique restaurant where the owner chef touches every plate to ensure perfection then this is the place to make a reservation.“

“Coming here for years. Some food items have gone down in quality, namely the pork chop and mac and cheese. Pork chop used to be really cooked to perfection and moist, however lately it has been dried out and overcooked. Mac and cheese lost the amount of cheese it usually has on it, and noodles were undercooked the previous two times. Must have changed the cooks in kitchen, who knows.“

“extremely generous portions and fresh ingredients at Hummus Republic. honestly i always get the same thing but it never disappoints - lemon chicken is tasty and the garlic jalapeño tahini is a little spicy so it’s a nice touch. the bowl is huge and stuffed to the brim every time - it lasts me for basically two meals and it’s affordable considering how much food you get (about $15 depending if you add any extras). they also have self-service lemonade - the pomegranate and mango lemonade mix is delicious!“

“Akihi is a chain of boba shops, with this location being located right near the Rutgers University campus. It was quite spacious, with large glass windows facing outwards to the plaza that hosts other smaller shops.

The shop hosted a self service kiosk, which made it easier to order and find things, as this was my first time visiting this chain. The menu is reasonably priced, with standard boba flavors as well as serving snacks.

I got the Brown Sugar Brulee, which wasn't too sweet but had a nice flavor to it. We also tried the passionfruit tea (called the fruit party) and it wasn't too sweet but very refreshing as well. It is a good compliment after having a heavy meal and you need something that isnt too sweet.

“I’m not sure I can explain the delight I had dining here but I’ll do my best.

It was an absolute joy being able to eat what chef Micheal cooked up for us. Walking In, the establishment is actually in a good hall with other restaurants so you’ll want to head to the back left most stall. Chef Micheal was happy to explain his menu, dole out recommendations, and listen to preferences with food which is a level of service you don’t see honestly almost anywhere these days. We took a seat and waited a just a bit and the food was brought out. Per Micheal’s recommendation and it being our intro to Ghanaian food, we got Jollof rice with chicken, Egusi, peanut butter soup with chicken and fufu, an extra side of plantains and a ginger juice.

The ginger juice (coming from someone who lives a strong ginger juice) was lovely. Very punchy, fresh, and hits you right in the back of the throat. Jollof rice with chicken was excellent. The chicken fell off the bone which was great. It was moist and a little bite of rice, chicken, and plantain all mixed together was perfectly balanced. Egusi was also great, the greens were tender and the meat was a nice textural contrast to the greens. Personally I liked the peanut butter soup and fufu the best. The texture of the fufu was light and springy and perfect which was amazing paired with the soup and chicken.

I truly did not have a disappointing bite here and I am happy to recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good meal. It was a treat to visit and I am looking foreword to my next visit.“
