Piattino: A Neighborhood Bistro

I don’t often write reviews but the price for service is not worth it! The servers and GM are aloof and disrespectful and the food and drink are subpar. Lucky they are the only game in town.

Wonderful food, nice atmosphere, terrible service. Sat near the bar area in a both. Took 10 minutes to place our drink order, another 20 minutes to get our drinks. Took 20 minutes to place our food order. Place was not overly crowded but simply the waiter, gentlemen with gray hair and gray beard, I suppose had more important things to do. This was not the first time we had such negative service experience. I suppose the solution is do not sit near the bar area as other tables did receive more timely service.

I love Piattino' s staff and food but the heavy Italian music is a vibe killer. This is a lovely Mendham spot but please change the tunes.

I recently dined at Piattino and had a wonderful experience. My food came out in a very timely manner and the service was impeccable. I was served by Fritzie D who was sweet, organized, had a sunny smile, and very professional. She made sure we were well taken care of and catered to our tables needs. The vodka pasta had great flavors and the cocktails were fantastic! I will definitely be dining here again!

I was so disappointed with the food, oh my goodness, it was terrible. Chicken Parmesan was burnt and curled up.Chicken Francese was like cardboard, the food was uneatable. Meatball appetizer was tasteless, disgusting. I will never go there again.

We had dinner here recently and loved it! My son and his best friend had the meatballs and clams as appetizers. My son had the pasta carbonara + loved it. I had the cavatelli with broccoli rabe, The pasta tasted homemade and the broccoli rabe was prepared perfectly. I'm vegetarian so they left out the sauage for me. Our friend got a pizza and loved it. Our cocktails were great too! Cynthia who acted as both our bartender and server really took great care of us!

I liked my visit to Piattino. It has a convenient location and makes great use of it. The atmosphere is compact and alive. There is a perfect mix between authenticity and modernization. The menu is a bit short in my opinion but from the select choices there is definitely a meal for everyone. My personal choice is the steak frites that were paired with a cup of fries. Both were seasoned in a way that gave definition to the meal. The service was impeccable as the kind young man that was our waiter continually checked in on us and was atentive to our requests. Refils were consistently offered and when it was time to pay the check, he kindly walked us through the point redemption service. Talk about a great trip with some distant relatives!

Parking: Plenty of spaces in the area that require little physical exertion to reach the restaurant.

We have been going to this place for four years but today was our very last time. Quality has gone down in the past year and prices have skyrocketed. My salad had barely any toppings and was poorly cleaned. Pasta is bland. And we paid almost $90 for it when I could go to Kings and get the same materials for a quarter of the price. Service is great but whoever is running the place is seriously cutting corners and skimping and it's showing more and more. Last three times were went we were more and more disappointed.

Unfortunately I haven’t had the best experiences with the food at Piattino in Mendham. Many dishes have an unnecessary overwhelming grill sear, including the fried mozzarella. The meatballs are often undercooked in the center. Dishes frequently including unexpected spices creating an atypical flavor profile. Overall, I generally do not recommend Piattino.
