A welcome addition to downtown Metuchen. It has a good menu, a cozy atmosphere, and welcomed my Meet-up group in the room downstairs. I'll definitely be back.

Oh dear, this could be the worst expresso I've had in years. I'm not sure about the roast itself but the preparation was definitely flawed. A 4 oz double espresso, really. Way too much liquid causing the extraction to be too thin and also bitter. My companion's Mocha was OK, but way too heavy on the chocolate.
The cafe itself is nice, with good service and location. But that can't excuse the quality of the product. Of the dozens of coffee houses/cafes I've visited in NJ, NY and surrounding states, Cai's doesn't warrant a return visit. Too bad, since one of the closer ones to me. Some basic training by someone who understands the art, or if you prefer the science, of making espresso would really help them out.

My friend & I came here for some overpriced grilled cheese which was $14 lol. The girls had no idea what was on the menu. They used to serve us on a plate now it’s a box. Knowing we are sitting at the with our computers open. This fell off completely. Used to be my fav spot. “/

The girls were super nice so I can’t complain about the service but the smoothie tasted like nothing but ice. I went back for a matcha latte and it still tastes like water.

Quick and friendly service, decent prices. the croissant i ordered was pretty stale which was a bummer, and their espresso is over roasted and therefore bitter, but with milk this can be somewhat remedied. The atmosphere is nice, clean, and kept at a comfortable temperature.
i’ll come back to try their brunch and other coffees :)

Dark roast drip coffee was very old and not very hot tastes like smell of wet socks ? or rust ..
cost $7.59 for a medium drip coffee and a mini danish that’s insane and FYI the danish was extremely DRY and stale no wonder she was asking to warm it up .. I hope the owner sees this and and fixes something cause seems like this place has potential.. maybe rotate the coffee more ? Or do like many places and make it by the cup to order of your going to charge 10x the amount as Dunkin at least get the quality.. girl at the counter wasn’t so bad but rushed me and I was gonna order more and stopped cause she rang me up before I could add more .. the bathroom was a mess paper towel rack was open with none inside and smells in there invest in a vent system or fan or maybe a essential oils ? Candle ?

I've tried different drinks here, thinking that maybe I'll find a good one but no. Last chance was a hot chocolate....it was worse than chocolate milk from a carton. Watery and tasteless. How can you mess up hot chocolate? They did.
