This unassuming place involves a great Indian food experience, good selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, catering to different dietary needs, which includes, flavorful fishes made to order, (for those of us who can’t have salt, they make any requested dish, with no salt involved), freshly baked naan, and dishes that cater to different spice preferences.

We ordered garlic naan, chicken Tikka masala, and Matar Panir dishes. Then we also ordered the special for 2 that came with Mulligatawny soup, chicken tikka, Lamb Roganjosh, navrattan korma, seekh kebab, basmati rice, and regular naan. Plenty of food for 3 adults and 1 kid; we took home leftovers. Spice level can be customized (mild, medium or spicy). Only mild complaint is the restaurant is realy dark.
After trying several Indian restaurants in New Jersey, I can confidently say Neelam has the best Indian food in the state. The chicken and lamb were perfectly cooked and delicious, and the desserts—gulab jamun and kheer—were fantastic. The staff was also very friendly. I would 100% recommend this place!
