Chicken a la Holestein was fantastic. Also cute interior with an interesting view of the stream just below it.
The protein options for a house salad are a little confusing. The beginning of the menu says chicken $5, salmon $9. Later says options are chicken $6, salmon $12. Be prepared to pay the $12 for salmon. Also buffalo wings were dry and not very “buffaloey”. No spice to them so get extra sauce on the side.
Always delicious. Great service!

Incredible menu, featuring 4 regions of food from around the world. An extensive menu of alcohol - beer, wine, mead, whiskey, bourbon. You name it. The food was delicious and the service was very good on a Monday night. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing time on Sunday afternoon. The food, wine & service was perfect. And, the ghost was so cute we had to give her a present (ghost pin). Wings were great, mussels were amazing and the best veggie burger I have ever had. Looking for to returning soon

Been here twice since the rebrand/new ownership or whatever it is.
It's expensive and the food ranges from "okay" to "really bad"
I had fish and chips and a pretzel both times.
First pretzel had a cup of cheese that was somehow completely tasteless, second one was fine.
Second order of fish and chips was just nasty. The fish was wet and dripping all over the fries, not entirely cooked. Either the oil wasn't hot enough, the fish was fried from frozen, or they stuck together while frying. I dunno what happened exactly, but that fish wasn't ready to go on a plate.
I sent it back to have them cook it more, but it was unsalvageable.
PLEASE use a meat thermometer to check the temperature of your fried food. Every time. Please.
I did have a scotch egg after it came back on the menu and that was totally fine.
No complaints on service, service was great!

This is one of my favorite places to visit with my fiancé when we want great food, great beer, and great service. We love the wide selection of choices on both the food and beer menu, we never need to order the same thing twice because of how many great dishes and beers there are to try! Joe and his team are extremely kind and professional, and know how to host a great event or night out (from Pirate party to Oktoberfest). The inside always looks clean and has a fun rustic charm to it. For us, Descendants is always worth the 45 minute drive to get there. We always come back for more!!

It's a beautiful place and the food was good, but my party and I waited 30 minutes before our waitress even came to the table to get our drinks when we sat down. Our drinks and food took a very long time, and my dinner was not hot when it arrived. My drink came after my dinner, and the bar wasn't even busy. I felt like we were forgotten for most of the night, and I'm disappointed we didn't get an apology or anything for all the waiting.

Bottom line up front: Descendants is wonderful for all the right reasons: beverages, food, service, and ambiance.
GF and I stopped in on a whim at the end of a Poconos road trip on a late-August Saturday afternoon. We sat at the bar and were served by beermaker Joe. Lucky us! Joe was super friendly and knowledgeable. He pointed us to a delicious single-cask Belgian beer, which we enjoyed with delicious Reuben eggrolls and Thai chicken wings. The kitchen staff knows what they're doing.
The bar features a wide range of unusual beers and spirits such as scotch, gin, and bourbon that you won't find at most other watering holes. Clearly the owners treat Descendants as a passion project, not just a business.
I highly recommend it!

We came here several years ago, when it was Ship Inn. We ordered 2 glasses of wine & 2 burgers. Hubby wanted it plain , waiter couldn’t figure out how to put that on the order. We waited a loong time & got the wrong order. Fries were overdone & not hot, bacon on burger was burnt. Shame. Probably won’t be back.

Milford Corned Beef Sandwich was amazing. Had a beer, then found out they had my white whale of whiskey i’ve been chasing - High West Midwinter Night’s Dram. $25/pour was perfect. Left there with a full stomach, and thrilled with the drink selection. The owner basically chatted with me the whole time about whiskey. 10/10 will be going back.

This was our second visit to Descendants and I don’t think we’ll be returning any time soon. The service times are absolutely abysmal and the fault does not lay with the servers. We reserved a table for 4 at 6:15 - we finally left at 8:30. There were no bussers working and seemed to only be two people on waitstaff in addition to the one bartender behind the bar. We waited over 30 minutes for drinks and the bartender seemed more invested in conversation with a few regulars at the bar than in fulfilling orders from the multitude of patron seated in the dining room. We remarked to our waitress on the incredible delay and she stated they were “short staffed”. This was the same excuse given at our previous visit a year prior so it seems to be the norm. When we did finally receive our drinks and placed our order, my son could not drink his ginger ale because it tasted like dishwater. We snagged a waiter after 20 minutes to send the drink back and request something else and he stated it was a problem with the taps in the basement. We also had a similar problem with one of the beers my husband ordered so it seems to be an ongoing issue.
The food itself is quite good but waiting for almost an hour to get an entree is beyond ridiculous. Because of the low staffing and no bussers available, the waitstaff was trying to clear away all the tables in addition to serving which led to food being left on tables all around us which was really an appetite killer especially when it was attracting flies (it’s summer and the doors were being opened and closed quite frequently allowing them inside).
Bottom line, we won’t be returning again.
