My husband and I stopped in on our way home. The food was amazingly tasty and fresh. My husband got a micro brew beer, and loved it. The staff were attentive and nice. The atmosphere was really cool. AND I was aloud to bring my dog inside! All that being said definitely check this place out. And will for sure be returning!!!

I walked in tonight at 8 PM and I was told that the kitchen was closed and they wouldn’t serve me. Please correct your hours on your website and Google maps. it is falsely advertised. Thank you!

This place could be so good. The vibe is absolutely perfect. cozy, welcoming, the kind of spot you want to love. The owners are genuinely lovely people. But then the food and beer show up… and it’s like someone hit the brakes.
The beer is often warm (never a good sign) and not exactly worth sipping. The menu has way too many options, but somehow none of them land. Not sure if every time I’ve gone they’re having an off night based on these other reviews or what.
Worth mentioning too, the $15 bratwurst at the World Fair hosted by the restaurant. It was rubbery, flavorless, and honestly one of the worst things I’ve had from a fair. You shouldn’t have to pull and rip the sausage with your teeth.
It’s frustrating, because with a vibe this good, they could easily be another Little York which is always packed for a reason (great food). Instead, Descendants ends up being the place you want to recommend, but can’t in good conscience.
If they tightened the menu, cooled the beer properly, and leaned into quality over quantity, this place could be magic. For now? Come for the cozy atmosphere, but maybe eat before you get here.

I’ve long loved this place. Was here recently with a friend who has a unique food allergy. Ishmael came out to chat with us about how he could best meet our food desires while being aware of the allergy. I was amazed at the initiative and the thoughtfulness. One more reason that The Ship Inn is utterly fantastic. Thank you! 🍻

I went without expecting anything and returned home happy. It was an excellent experience in a simply wonderful place, full of
history, with a pleasant atmosphere, excellent food, and the best host. Thank you, Joseph, for this wonderful day you gave us... you and your team did an incredible job. We'll be back soon.

This is one of many places scattered throughout this portion of the tri-state area. Where music and passion and talent abounds. There's no reason to be able to go to an open mic on Tuesday night starting at 7:00 p.m. and be able to see people this talented without going to New York City or Los Angeles or Nashville. But you can't. Is it all amazing? No, but most of it is. And the food's good. And the owner is clearly very into alcohol but like kind of nice good way. Not in like a sad way. I love this place and I love the people. Definitely come out and hopefully on Tuesday night to catch the randos playing music at an open. Mike

great little bar and restaurant right on a little river. had mussel in white sauce, best white sauce I've had. fried green tomatoes were great as well. thai wings had great flavor, but were a bit lacking in meat. beer variety was great, with some great classics as well as their own brews. had a bacon old fashioned and manhattan, both were fantastic. they also have a gimlet that was tasty. menu is extensive and we didn't even get to their whiskeys, will habe to come back again.

Tried this place twice. Food wasn't good - fish from the and chips was dripping with liquid after biting into it, which was gross. It wasn't cooked fully. When we were able to flag down a server, we had it sent back. It was brought back out a few minutes later. They put it back in the fryer, which didn't fix the issue. My guess is they battered a half-thawed piece of fish and deep fried it. Then, after we left, the fish came back up, if you get my meaning. It was not good. Server was nowhere to be seen most of the time.
The menu was almost entirely different between the two times we went, which to me says the kitchen can't settle on food they can make consistently good. The tables were sticky, and flies were bothering us the entire time. Drinks were expensive, and did not taste good, and they didn't have half of the drinks available on the menu. I ordered a beer on tap and it was just gross tasting. I left most of it. The only thing that was good both times was the pretzel. Fries were wilted and soft both times.
I'm not going to give this place a third chance.

My lady friend is having some food issues but the chef came out and went over things he could do to help. Great place great service! Will be back. Thanks guys and gals ! Keep up the good work !!!! 🤙🏻

Puerto Rican Rum Dinner
Disappointing for so many reasons. You’re not a Michelin star restaurant so if you’re offering a 5 course dinner it should not take 3 hours to serve! Know your limits! I’ve eaten at Michelin stars restaurants all over the world and frankly this was a horrible experience!

Returned because of the Hunterdon County Beer Trail. Its been over year since Ive been and it will probably be the only reason I return.
Food was to my pallet because after working outside all day make that patty salty. Fries were limp with fry grease. Beirgarten Burger had cheddar and beer cheese on it, which seems excessive and not as described. Also, fries has a few burned stubes.
I'm here for beer trail and they have 2 of their own beers on tap. Both have under 3.6 on untapped which is lackluster. The digital board had 6, but that wasn't accurate after asking the bartender.
Tried looking up bottles and cans after being unimpressed with the one one beer by Descendents I might have ordered, Wee Heavy shouldn't taste sour. They were not titled corrextly to be searched on untapped or googled from a selection of 6 i tried. The Muel I got, instead, was 90% ice and almost no flavor because of the amount of water and lack of ginger beer that makes mules attractive on a hot day.
I used to love this place, but honestly I won't be back unless it's for the beer trail next year.
