Returned because of the Hunterdon County Beer Trail. Its been over year since Ive been and it will probably be the only reason I return.
Food was to my pallet because after working outside all day make that patty salty. Fries were limp with fry grease. Beirgarten Burger had cheddar and beer cheese on it, which seems excessive and not as described. Also, fries has a few burned stubes.
I'm here for beer trail and they have 2 of their own beers on tap. Both have under 3.6 on untapped which is lackluster. The digital board had 6, but that wasn't accurate after asking the bartender.
Tried looking up bottles and cans after being unimpressed with the one one beer by Descendents I might have ordered, Wee Heavy shouldn't taste sour. They were not titled corrextly to be searched on untapped or googled from a selection of 6 i tried. The Muel I got, instead, was 90% ice and almost no flavor because of the amount of water and lack of ginger beer that makes mules attractive on a hot day.
I used to love this place, but honestly I won't be back unless it's for the beer trail next year.
Regular customer and best beer selection in Hunterdon County! I usually get the 4 or 6 count flights of British ales and German brews & Exit the Dragon is my favorite. The menu has a good selection & European themed events are always a fun time & and it has a comfortable historic atmosphere with friendly staff. The only gripe I have is slow service and food delivery. Maybe understaffed? Otherwise all good.
Awesome atmosphere, and great people!
The drink options are endless, and the food is delicious!
French Fries were worse than McDonalds. Crunchy and to much salt for even a salt lover. Fish from the fish and chips were 90% breading and 10% fish. The steak pot pie was dry meat and potatoes nothing more. For four meals 2 were nothing special and were ok. An amateur cook would be hard pressed to screw up. (Cheese steak and Hamburger). Ordered a lemonade that was nothing but water and a splash of lemon flavoring. The cup of water had more flavor.
Service was terrible. After seating it was 20 minutes for a waitress to show up. After taking our drink orders it was another 20 minutes. She was sure in a hurry to bring the bill and get her tip though. Being a life long resident of Milford I wouldn't recommend going to Descendants and don't plan on returning. The pizza restaurant has better service and food.
If you like good domestic beer this isn't the place to go unless you like fruit juice being past off as beer.
Set in a charming Victorian building known as the Old Ship Inn, Descendants Brewing Co. is New Jersey’s first craft brewpub since Prohibition. Housed inside a ship‑and‑old‑English–themed interior, the space feels like a cozy tavern with history and character—complete with plenty of seating and free street parking.
Our favorite beer, Exit the Dragon, part of their Hidden Station series, is a standout: a 6.7% ABV old‑style Welsh red ale infused with smoke and clove to honor Wales’ legendary red dragon. It’s a thoughtful, flavorful nod to tradition with a creative twist—definitely a highlight on the tap list.
The food hit the mark too! The chicken cheesesteak with fries was super satisfying, and a perfect companion to a full pour or flight. Speaking of flights, they offer not only house beers, but an impressive lineup of global and domestic craft beers.
Where Descendants really flexes though is their bar shelves. With over 300 whiskeys and curated whiskey flights, plus a rotating collection of rare bottles. It’s clear this is more than a beer destination. Andrew can't wait to come back to sample some whiskey.
I’ve been enjoying this place for most of my life. Originally as The Ship, but Descendants has brought it to a new level without losing its pedigree. I love what Joe and the team have brought to their spirits collection and the events are such a bright spot in the community. There’s always something new on their large food menu and I commend them for it. They also keep the best bitters on tap and for that I’m eternally grateful.
Exceptional freshly brewed beers (try the Best Bitter!), a charming and inviting atmosphere, a mouth-watering and thoughtfully crafted menu, and a whisk(e)y collection to dream about. You don't have to travel far to taste the world's best offerings; it's all part of the story at Descendants.
Was here for a Mother’s Day dinner, place was not very busy, seated immediately, 30 minutes later the first drink hit the table. 45 minutes until a food order was even taken. Extremely slow service, one plate came out wrong and decided to eat anyway as to not wait even longer for a re fired dish to crawl its way to the table. Very poor service.
We ordered the Guinness steak pie prices at 26 dollars and it came all saucy a dollop of mashed potatoes and about 4 prices of steak it was more sauce then anything tasted good but you didn't get 26 dollars worth of food

Chicken a la Holestein was fantastic. Also cute interior with an interesting view of the stream just below it.

The protein options for a house salad are a little confusing. The beginning of the menu says chicken $5, salmon $9. Later says options are chicken $6, salmon $12. Be prepared to pay the $12 for salmon. Also buffalo wings were dry and not very “buffaloey”. No spice to them so get extra sauce on the side.
Always delicious. Great service!

Incredible menu, featuring 4 regions of food from around the world. An extensive menu of alcohol - beer, wine, mead, whiskey, bourbon. You name it. The food was delicious and the service was very good on a Monday night. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing time on Sunday afternoon. The food, wine & service was perfect. And, the ghost was so cute we had to give her a present (ghost pin). Wings were great, mussels were amazing and the best veggie burger I have ever had. Looking for to returning soon
