Mrs. Kumar's Indian Cuisine

We ordered soup and appetizers, just trying to get more dishes to taste instead of limiting our options to entrees. The soups were delicious, especially the tomato soup. It was bright and very flavorful, absolutely delicious. The mulligatawny soup was very good as well. The appetizers started off well until the Gobi Manchurian arrived, it was very soggy and lacked any discernible flavor. Service was very good, however, there was an issue ordering due to a language barrier. If it weren’t for the one dish, I could have given a higher rating. I would definitely recommend anyone to give it a try, it’s an overall a good restaurant.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! Incredibly kind and knowledgeable staff, gorgeous decor, intimate setting and the food was exceptional!! Could not recommend a night out with Mrs Kumar enough - such a treasure in Monroe!

I ordered lamp chops , fish pokora and Goat Sukha I will say most pathetic food I ever had in New Jersey … The food was made a few days before and was just reheated and given to us.. I called and expressed my concern, and the guy was just listening and saying OK… Just a suggestion, please don’t bring bad name to the Indian food.

Mrs Kumar thanks for the reply.. I am from Georgia only and I visit here quite often as my family lives here.. I have tried your good in past as well and it was really good but this time what time I was really felt all there items were not cooked properly and were reheated .. my family also tried it and they are living here for ages .. my apologies my intention was not to bring bad name to your business or Indian food .. I still have the food kept in fridge I am welcome to share with you..

My husband and i recently moved to NJ and the first time we ordered, we were pleased to find an Indian restaurant with good food, albeit pricey. But our opinion has since changed. We have ordered from here about 6 times and only 50% of the time has the order been accurate /without issue. One time they forgot to give us one of the appetizers and we had to drive back. A second time, there was actually a piece of metal in my food which I almost swallowed. We called the restaurant to explain and they said they wouldn’ t give us a refund for that item but that they would compensate us in the future. We were nice enough to continue to trust them and ordered again. So the next time we ordered, we got an appetizer “for free”. Really, that seems like it was just to replace the last one we throw out due to the piece of metal. Now this was the final straw. Approximately 2 weeks ago I had surgery and was only able to eat soft foods so I ordered a paneer dish. Because I was not feeling well due to the surgery, we placed the order through Mrs Kumar website and uses doordash instead of picking it up ourselves. About an hour after we ordered, we received a phone all from doordash saying , “we are at the restaurant and they never received your order. So we are cancelling your order because there is no food here to deliver “. We immediately called the restaurant and explained we have just waited an hour only to find out the order was never even received. The man on the phone asked us what our order was and said he would put it on and call us back. He never called back. We called the restaurant and said hello , what’s going on ? The same kid said we can come pick up the order and he will talk to his manager about how to compensate us for the inconvenience. My husband drove to the restaurant which is almost 20 mins away only to arrive and find out they STILL have not put our order in. My husband placed the order again and waited about 25 mins. And while at the restaurant, my husband once again asked how we would be compensated for this inconvenience, and also how we will get a refund for the previous order. The man said his manager wasn’t available and handed my husband his cell phone where the OWNER was on and wanted to speak to us. It was a female and she said that my husband was disturbing the peace of the restaurant and asked WHAT Did we want from them ? Obviously what we wanted was an apology, something to show that you are sorry about the issue and a refund for our first order. I am appalled at the behavior of this so-called owner. This is how you treat a customer who has actually been *extremely inconvenienced by you? On multiple occasions ? To top it all off, it has been almost two weeks since that incident and we still have not received a refund for the first order that was placed through the website . Doordash said the refund comes from the restaurant since we placed it through their website . Anytime my husband calls about it, the restaurant says there is no one available/no manager to help us. Even though the food was food, I will never support this business again. I don’t know if the owner acted that way because she saw we were white, maybe she was judging us, I don’t know. My brother is law is Indian and I feel really put off by this.

Food is the best, omg!
1st time, the waiter was personable and well versed in the menu. Helped a lot with choosing and it was great. 2nd time, the waiter asked what we wanted (lump on a log) and a girl just dropped the food off at the table. I was surprised, but again the food was great. We'll try again 🙂

One of the curries I ordered was stale. It smelled a little off and tasted weird. My guess is some of the ingredients used were stale or bad. Threw it out. The other curry I ordered was fine.
