We’ve been going to Local since it first opened. It was about the third coffee shop in Montclair at that time. Now, I can’t keep track of them all.
Even after a change of ownership, I would still put their coffees (and baristas) up against any others in town.
Both the service and the quality are terrific. As it’s continued to get more popular, the noise levels and ability to grab a seat have decreased, which is why I marked them down...

Fantastic drip coffee. Delicious cheddar scallion scone.
Close quarters that could be cozy or overbearing depending on time and mood: 3 tables (2 seats each), 2 loungers (tight space in the back), one bench by the entrance.
Definitely will be back for the coffee and pastries!
