We were there a few days after opening and were very pleased with the attention we received. More importantly, the food was wonderful!

I've been wanting to go to this restaurant since it opened and we finally made it. We looked at the chef's tasting but didn't like the lack of choices so decided to go on Sunday for the a la carte. The space is lovely and cozy. They had a nice table for us as we were celebrating our anniversary. We brought a nice bottle of wine and started with the beets and the salsify. The beets were super smokey which was fine but after a couple of bites it was very overwhelming as it took over so the other flavors. The salad needed more seasoning as well as some citrus. The salsify was very well done and it was delicious! My husband ordered the cod which was good but spectacular and I ordered the duck which was quite underwhelming. It needed seasoning and the fat wasn't rendered as well so the skin wasn't very crispy. Considering the prices, I would have expected more. We didn't bother with dessert.

We had a beautiful experience dining at Sam’s Table! Every one of the 5 courses was delicious and had a surprising element. It’s clear that the chef is greatly talented but also has fun creating the dishes. Service was outstanding. You can bring your own wine or they have it here. The menu changes monthly. Can’t wait to be back!

Every dish was something I didn’t know I needed. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. Sam’s mother is so sweet and checked in on us multiple times. Can’t wait to go back.

Ate here on a rainy Sunday night and felt completely at home, in Sam’s cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The bread and butter were outrageously good - the butter was sweet against the flakey-and-salty-ness of the bread. The leeks with trout row were like the best leek soup of your life!! I will be thinking about that dish for a long time. We also started with the fluke in a sauce I could have drank straight from the plate. My hubs had the halibut and I had the duck, and we cleaned our plates. Both were deeply satisfying and sumptuous. Wow. The panna cotta at the end was light and a perfect end to a perfect meal. Sam is doing something special here and we are so lucky he chose Montclair to bring his creativity and spot on palette. Thank you, Sam!

Last night we had the pleasure of dining at Sam’s Table in Montclair for their tasting menu, and I’m still thinking about it this morning.
From start to finish, every dish, every detail, and every moment of service was simply outstanding. Don’t miss out on truly one of the best new dining experiences in Montclair!

Everything was top notch service, food, ambiance definitely coming back more then once. You want to try awesome local grown dishes. This chef is up and coming and im on board. Come check it out for yourself you won't be disappointed.

What a great new addition to the Montclair food scene! Really nice ingredients, clean flavors and thoughtful presentation throughout the meal. It’s an intimate space with a great vibe. The redesign of the space, while relatively minor, has such a meaningful and positive impact on the overall feel. Service was also on point, already running like a well oiled machine. It was Thursday, so we ate off the à la carte menu (the bonito aioli with the steak tartare was awesome), but will certainly be back for the weekend tasting soon. Montclair peeps, run, don’t walk.

Great new restaurant. We enjoyed the tasting menu (Friday and Saturday nights). Chef Sam is a master of discovering new, interesting foods to pair, many of which you may not expect to work. But they all do! The squash with silken tofu (pictured here) was one of many examples. Great vibe in the place - elegant but very comfortable. This place is a winner!

Best tasting menu I’ve had in years! Each course was delicious and prepared with great care. Our group of 4 left full and totally satisfied. Ambiance and service were perfect too! We’ll definitely be back :)
The best restaurant in Montclair, maybe the entire state of New Jersey. It’s refreshing that someone finally opened an establishment that compares to dinning in Manhattan. The food was thoughtful and imaginative. Good service and nice people. I encourage our community to support the owners by booking a reservation and enjoying the food.
