I have eaten here before. Food is delish. I was just turned away for not having reservations and was told there was a 2hr wait to my knowledge they are not a reservations only establishment. There were more than 6 empty tables when I walked in and we were a party of 3. It's unfortunate that an establishment would not accommodate a small group when there seemed to be plenty of space and people leaving.

Everything on this menu sounded amazing - I mean, how can you go wrong with mac and cheese, fried chicken, turkey wings, sweet potatoes, corn bread, and other delicious options. And it's not that anything was bad...but I wouldn't say I felt satisfied with the flavor experience. I am thinking the sweet tea is made fresh per order because the tea came out warm with 2 ice cubes in it - so I am thinking the tea was just brewed and cooled down with ice. I needed to ask for more ice because it wasn't great warm. We had the corned bread appetizer and it was very cake-like: it was pretty thick and a bit dry. The strawberry sauce that comes with it was a 10/10. Whatever that sauce was, it was BOMB. It was unexpected to get that with corned bread, but I am here for it. My crispy chicken said on the menu it takes 30 minutes- but it was out much less than that. Chicken was cooked fine, but I felt the breading didn't have that much flavor/spices. Mac and cheese was pretty good- I liked the noodles they picked (spiral). The sweet potato was cooked perfectly. Overall it was tasty, but the "fancy comfort food" vibe takes away from the flavors you're looking for. It tasted like healthier/cleaner comfort food- which is still a nice option to have.

The food was very good but pricey. The air conditioner was on because it was hot the day before. We had to ask them to turn the air conditioner off. We couldn't stay there and enjoy our meal because of the cold. I sat there the whole time with a hoodie on my head. So we took the rest of our food home. The ambience was lovely. They included a 20% gratuity on our bill for 2 people.

Came here on a Saturday early evening right before an event at Wellmont Theatre. I made a reservation for three but at the last minute, one had to cancel. I gave my name to the hostess to tell her it would be 2 and not 3, but she stated I made a reservation for 2. I checked to make sure and it definitely was for 3. We got seated at a table for 4, got out water and started with our BYOB champagne. While seated, our waitress asked us to move from the table of 4 to a table of 2. We happily obliged. We started with the cornbread, which was absolutely delicious. Best thing we ate the night. It came with a strawberry butter. We ordered the beef short rib grilled cheese with potato wedges and the bbq pulled chicken with coleslaw and potato salad. The food we ordered was okay. The short rib was a tad stringy and potato wedges had no seasoning or salt. We ordered the peach cobbler but it took over 25 minutes, which ran us behind. The peach cobbler came it ice cream. The ice cream was good, but I was not a fan of the cobbler. It tasted like canned sliced peaches with no additives. And there was no much liquid in the cobbler. I was hoping to taste some cinnamon and brown sugar but i didnt. It was pretty. Our waitress was attentive and courteous. The place was decorated nicely. There's no parking directly in front of the restaurant, but plenty down the street and in paid parking lots

Some of the best if not the best food I've had in jersey, outside of other cuisines I regularly eat. Great place to treat yourself or someone after a hard time.Food portions were heavy, 3 people split 2 entrees and 2 starters and had food to take home. Definitely going back for more of that cornbread dressing stuffing & cheesy grits

Today was my 2nd visit everything was absolutely delicious. We celebrated a friends birthday and it was their first time and they loved it. My first time was on Motown Sunday. Everyone treated everyone like family. I will definitely come back I need to try the peach cobbler both visit they were out of it.? Definitely will be back with family.
Last Thursday 4/4/24 my friends and I visited your eatery for an afternoon lunch/birthday date. The food portions were great and we all requested to-go boxes to take home. After dinner, I ordered my husband a shrimp and grits dish to take home to him for his dinner. When I got home my husband showed me the 4 shrimp in a box and the small container of grits and cheese. The portion size was completely unacceptable for $28.50. I called the restaurant and was informed that there was not a manager on duty. I was given an email to contact someone. I expressed my concern to the hostess but she said nothing. I usually don't complain about portions and prices but I can only ask how you would feel if the shoe were on the other foot.

Recently went on a brunch date with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed ourselves. From the friendly staff, GREAT food and live music the atmosphere was everything. Loved how the owner is a black woman and she helps out on the floor as well. Highly recommend best soul food in north jersey

We loved everything about this restaurant. My husband and I and three kids (13, 12, and 7) dined here. We ordered the cornbread appetizer, the baked salmon, smothered chicken, 1-lb shortrib, and two shrimp mac and cheeses, sweet tea. Two of my kids are PICKY eaters but had no problem tasting and enjoying the food we shared with one another. In fact my 12-year-old said "my tastebuds are doing somersaults". My 13 year old said "I'm so full but I feel so greedy I want to eat more".For sides we had collard greens, home fries, and sweet potato. We ate so much and had plenty to take home. Service was attentive. Ambiance was fantastic. It is a place where you can dress up or be casual. (We were dressed casually and didn't feel out of place at all) Thanks for a great Easter weekend meal, Sweet T's!
