Great Ethiopian

we were so happy we found this restaurant before we went to see our play at the State theater. We started with the very fresh and tasty house salad. Then we ordered the special combination for two people for $95 that included five veggies, two beef, two chickens, two seafood, and one lamb dish along with injira. everything was absolutely delicious. And there is quite a bit to take home. Will definitely be back

We were told by a staff that if I want to take home the Mita powder spice I would be charged $2. I told them the spice powder was served with our meal so why charge us extra if we want to take it home in addition they would throw it away anyways since it was sitting on our table for over an hour. In a shocking response the server told us they don’t throw away the spice they will add it back to the spice container. When I fired back that would be in clear violation of restaurant code, she back paddled to say it was just a joke. Absolutely gross and absurd. Will not be returning there.

Good food but I've had better. Definitely expensive.

Service was lacking even with them not being under staffed.

Seems like they have new owners. The food does not taste the same and they changed the menu. You can no longer order the veg sampler and choose 5 options.
Smaller portions, less options and higher cost.
You're probably better off driving to Montclair to Mesob.

This place is a MUST!!!! The food is incredible! The owner is super sweet. She gets her ingredients from her mother's farm in Ethiopia!

Have gone for a variety of events: catching up with friends, family, dates, and take out. Ethiopian food is simply delicious and Dashen always gets it right. Vegans and vegetarians can definitely eat here comfortably. I have gone here since 2020 and they were more affordable then. There is a fee to share plates which I believe is a newer practice for them. Not a fan of it.
