The most unobtrusive place next to Starbucks in Rt 22 center island, but man this food was good! Everything is fried, but very clean and not greasy or oily. I had excellent basa fish with fried shrimp and chips- all of it was really good. The owners are a delight and they have plenty of non fish items. It’s not a cheap place, but nice portions and again, excellent food

Nice spot for delicious Seafood. It was so delicious. It has a nice atmosphere. Feels like a place in Los Angeles I loved.

The food was full of flavor. The sauces were on point. It was a little greasy but it is fried food so I wasn't even mad. My only critique is that the portions are smaller than expected for the price you pay. I ordered the coconut shrimp with chips. I wish I would have gotten a little bit more shrimp as I thought the portion was a little small. Aside from that I felt it was a good experience and I would definitely eat their food here again.

Love this place I usually eat her 3 times or more a week! The calamari & fried oreos are my favorite!

Good food but IMO Over priced. Also fish should be fried to golden brown. Too pale. Nice guys. I wou recommend though.

Sub par dipping sauces (really nothing good on that end you’re better off going to the store to make / buy your own but hey, while you’re there buy some fish and make it yourself this isn’t anything special or worth getting. Can’t trust a fish place that DOESNT have lemon wedges. It’s entirely out of the person on staffs control it’s all ownership. Yuck.

I been to the other locations and this one is just as good. I love the fish nuggets and chips with some on their banging cilantro lime sauce! Coleslaw is also really good, all around so far not bad

Do you see this shrimp sandwich? I'm Appalled and confused as to how y'all stay in business. The "hush puppies" are the worst rendition I've ever tasted in my 21 years, and the Chipps are SUPER salty. -2/10

I have been to 3 chippery's starting with the original in Elizabeth, then the one in union and have received the same quality food each time.. The only thing about this one is it isn't a sit in, it inside of a gas stop store. So u CAN GET SEAFOOD, drinks, snacks n gas all at the same time lol wait there's also a liquor store so how could you go wrong..I usually get Tsunami, which comes with fish, chips, clams, calamari(I only like the round one),shrimp and a dessert(either funnel cake or fried twix), fried mac and cheese balls and I love there hush puppies. I've also had their fried chicken which is pretty good. I ask them not to put seasoning on my food after its cooked because it's too much salt for me.

Although the fish was too crunchy, almost a bit dry, I liked the shrimp and chips. They tasted great ! My favorite sauce was the lemon sauce ! Really complimented the chips. I enjoyed it but feel like it's not worth it for delivery. This is simply because it's expensive when you add tip and pay delivery. Unfortunately I added coleslaw and they didn't have any available. The hush puppies were like dry balls of corn flour. I was not excited about them. They tasted great but were hard to chew.

After nearly 3 months of not leaving the house, taking a drive to Newark during some errands seemed like a great excuse to pick up some fish and chips. I have been to one of their earlier locations in Elizabeth, and the food as just good here as it was there. We ordered the Tsunami, which comes with fish, chips, clams, calamari, and shrimp. All of them were perfectly battered and fried, the seasoning excellent. And it came with dipping sauces, I got the avocado ranch, cilantro lime, and tartar sauce. All were good, but I prefer just the seasoning. It's definitely a take out spot since it's in a gas station convenience store but that doesn't say anything about the quality of the food

My brother took our family to The Chippery during a day of running some errands. After 2 months of quarantine we were craving something different and fish and chips sounded like a great idea. Given coronavirus precautions we felt it'd be best to place our order over the phone then just pick it up and eat in the car. We settled on getting a Tsunami to share. The storefront is pretty unassuming; it's nestled with a gas station convenience store so you'd definitely miss it if you're not looking for it. To minimize exposure my brother was the only one to go down and pick up the food. It was ready pretty promptly after placing the phone order. The fish is well seasoned with a good ratio of fish to batter. We had 3 different sauces: cilantro lime, avocado ranch, and original tartar. Each of the sauces goes very well with the fish and with the chips. The rest of the seafood was just as good. Nothing new or innovative, they taste exactly how you'd expect. I think my favorite sauce was the cilantro lime. The cilantro lime provides a nice tartness to cut the greasiness of the fried foods. I'd definitely come back here.
