Walked in not sure if you needed reservations but there was no room it felt cramped and uncomfortable I can't comment on the food because nobody was there to tell us where to sit or help us at all for anything for that matter walked out and ate somewhere

It is too expensive for to small a quanity of food. Paid allot to leave there still hungry. Plus, service was poor.

It is a barn so dress comfortable, but the food is great. We always have crabs with garlic butter and they are the best. BYOB and call to make sure they're open.

So enjoyed a delicious lunch of Maryland Crab Soup, Oysters Rockefeller and Linguini with Crab. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Our server was quick and efficient and we enjoyed chatting with her. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy, especially with the lovely breeze blowing through. Was very impressed, start to finish. Hope to go again soon!!

This place provides a special Jersey Bayshore experience. Very rustic, in the middle of the saltmarsh in rural Cumberland County on the lovely Nantuxent Creek. I love coming here every summer if I can. Well prepared seafood, in a beautiful natural environment. Like their decor too. Worth the trip, and explore the surrounding area if you get a chance.

Did not get garlic bread that was ordered. Potatoes were small but were not charged for them. I really wish at least 1 side would come with platter. But otherwise nice experience for the 1st time there.

My kids love it, they always want to eat there and the staff is always so friendly. Only place my kids will eat crabs from.Kid-friendliness: There's a boat outside used for dining that kids love.

Finally figured out when this place was open despite conflicting info from their poor website, and made it to this location. In short, avoid it. The location, the physical setting, and the service is absolutely awful. While the food was fairly decent, it's not worth dealing with the rest of the negatives, not the least of which is the long and arduous road to get there. The restaurant is essentially inside of a tiny, run-down barn with a deck attached. The deck has 4 picnic tables, and the barn has 3 booths and two 4-tops. Essentially, not many people can be served. So, does that translate into rapid, efficient service? Nope! There were 2 young ladies serving while also assisting some guy in the kitchen with the cooking and food prep. Your dinner for 3 easily turns into a frustrating three-plus hour ordeal, with unjustifiable waits for appetizers, soft drinks, and your meal. Other folks literally sat there for an hour without service! Truth! The selection of items is poor. For a crab house they only had one size of crabs (a small size), and at a fairly steep price for their size. While they were tasty, they took forever to arrive, and they weren't that hot when served. How this place is open is beyond me. Besides the sad shack that it essentially is, they only have one bathroom that is essentially equivalent to an outhouse with a sink that is located outside, and down the path from the restaurant (yes, it's as disgusting as it is described). The restaurant is dark and dingy, with no temperature control other than single ceiling fan. No consideration is given to handicapped access either. Why the state and county authorities allow this business to stay open is unfathomable. Grandfathered? Payola?Stay away and save yourself the hassles.

A very unique dining experience in a small country town in the middle of nowhere. Very casual. Best scallops I ever had. Very busy so service was a bit delayed.

Decided to stay local this year for crabs (annual trek to Maryland was just not in the cards). The Bull on the Barn was just the location to make our crew feel like we were transported to another time and place. The kitsch on the walls and ceiling and even in the yard surrounding the restaurant made us feel like we had just come in from the Delaware Bay. The crew shucked the oysters for us (sweet, meaty) cleaned the crabs and seasoned them with garlic and parmesan cheese (a Jersey thing). BYOB-- no problem: a few brews from Tonewood and Cape May Brewing did the trick. Check them out before the season ends.
