First of all the restaurant is named after Mao Zedong, a dictator who starved 60 million people to death.
Also seed oils are disgusting, you shouldn’t eat here.
The owner hates Trump as well

First off, the only thing I love more than a classic Chinese restaurant is a Chinese restaurant that smells of shiz. I asked for a table for 6 and was shown to a bright pink table as if it was a 6 year olds dress. The waiter came out as if his family had just passed; served us plates with PLASTIC utensils (everyone else had normal utensils) EVERYONE. I myself ordered sushi (awesome) and seasame chicken. Oh boy this was not sesame chicken more vegan nuggets in soy sauce. What a horrid taste. When asking for more sauces just don’t. Our waiter or more the whole restaurants waiter came out with an eel sauce and proceeded to spill it all over the table YUM. The beef skewers are as delicious as your car tires! Awesome experience out here in Shang Mao Glatt kosher restaurants. Here is a new slogan for the restaurant, “You want a big hospital bill? Well come here anything off the menu will make you sick!!”
Wheelchair accessibility: Idk what this is. And NO don’t come here if paralyzed it’ll make it worse and there is no entrance wheelchair wise (Smiley Face Emoji).

Avoid this place at all costs—there are far better options to eat elsewhere.
From the start, things went downhill. We were handed plastic utensils for unknown reasons, but we let that slide. Regarding drinks, we were instructed to serve ourselves behind the register. As for the food, it was practically thrown onto the table. When we asked for dipping sauce, that too was carelessly tossed, with half of it spilling on the way.
What upset me was the handling of the bill. When it was brought to me, I handed over my credit card, and it was taken quickly—no issue there. But when I received my receipt to sign, there was a section with four tip options (18%, 20%, 22%, or 25%). I asked the waiter for the original receipt to check if the 18% tip had already been included. He hesitated, mumbled something, and disappeared for a solid five minutes. I had to ask the person behind the register to bring me the original receipt before signing. Finally, the waiter returned with the receipt and a flimsy excuse, saying the tip had already been added and there was no need to tip again.
This shady practice is unacceptable. The food was far from what it used to be, the service was practically non-existent, and this is the worst kosher restaurant we've been to in a long time. Anything in the area, of Deal and Long Branch is a better choice than this place. Just don’t even bother here in my humble opinion.
I don’t normally write such reviews, but this left a bad taste in my mouth.
To the owner: Unfortunately, your restaurant leaves much to be desired.

We just had the unfortunate experience of dining at this same called Chinese restaurant, it was a disaster from start to finish. The so-called service was practically nonexistent - the waiter made it seem like we were bothering him just by being there. The tablecloth was a flimsy, tiny piece of pink plastic that even a dollar store wouldn't sell.
The only authentic Chinese presence in the entire establishment seemed to be the poorly drawn people on the walls. We had to ask for plates and utensils, and when they finally arrived, they gave us plastic forks and spoons. Plastic utensils at a sit down restaurant! We had to serve ourselves with napkins, straws, and soda.
As for the food, Everything was cold, tasteless, and of incredibly poor quality. The chicken and broccoli was fake it didn't even resemble real chicken. No water or tea was served.
To add insult to injury, when we requested the bill, we were given a summary bill. Upon insisting on seeing the details, we discovered that they had sneakily added a 18% service fee twice, resulting in a whopping 36% service charge.
It's truly baffling how anyone could leave positive reviews for this establishment. Take my advice and stay away from this place. It's a mystery to me how this place is still in business.

They take my order. Charge my card. One hour later they call me up to say they can’t deliver.
Customer service was nasty. I would not recommend anyone to order from here.

Sheng Mao Kosher Restaurant in Oakhurst has some of the most flavorful kosher Chinese and Japanese dishes around. The food is excellent, from the savory Sesame Chicken to the delicate sushi rolls. Unfortunately, the great food is ruined by terrible service and poor hygiene. When you walk in, the staff greets you with condescension. The waiters are rude, treating customers like they are a bother. Things got worse when the mashgiach suddenly claimed to be the manager and rudely told us, "I run the show here. It's time for you to leave."This kind of attitude, along with the unclean environment, makes it hard to enjoy the good food. The chefs know what they're doing, but the service and cleanliness need serious improvement. In the end, while the food at Sheng Mao Kosher Restaurant is tasty, the bad service and hygiene make it hard to recommend. The management needs to fix these problems so the excellent food can be appreciated.

I'll start with the good. The food was hot. Now the rest. Service was horrible. They added 18% gratuity and than ask for tip again on the check! The chinese noodles were soggy. The general Tso chicken was not general Tso. The restaurant is dingy.

I had the unfortunate experience of sharing a sub-par dinner with a friend who has to adhere to Glatt Kosher dining choices. First of all, the restaurant exterior and interior were so dimmly lit in the strip mall, we thought it was closed. The place inside looks dated which is fine but totally freezing! We had our winter jackets on the entire meal. The carpeting was dirty with visible broken Chinese noodles covering a large area enroute to the bathrooms. The bathroom looked worse than a dive bar inside! Has the local board of health ever seen this place!? Shoes were sticking to the unwashed floors and the grime level had layers of uncleaned dirt all over; bring a bottle of hand sanitizer if you must attend this disgusting place. The menu choices were totally overpriced ( like double what you'd pay for a combination platters anywhere else!) I guess because we're close to Deal,NJ they feel extra entitled to charge high prices. The cashew chicken platter had gummy gross chicken pieces but mostly celery and water chestnuts. The Sauce was salty without flavor. The " orange fried rice " was bland. The steamed dumplings were a funky texture and mushy. To top things off they have the audacity to charge an automatic 18% service charge..totally narcissistic as the service was just O.K.Save yourself a trip here there's plenty of other Chinese restaurants around with better food, prices, and atmospheres.
