“Simply known as 'The Armory' this mainly seafood place has an old wartime feel, big brick building with lots of windows along the water/pier/outside bar. We walked in and were greeted and seated within 5 minutes. Amazing menu, nothing bad at all (four of us all tried different items), the calimari is not overly crunch, the pork chops were thick and well cooked/cut, I had jumbo shrimp, but the word jumbo doesn't do the dish justice. Extremely well curated menu, sangria was to die for, and we had a pinapple/cinnimon dessert that was really good (light because the meal was so heavy). Don't have to dress up, a nice button down shirt and nice shorts/pants for men is just fine, but don't go like a slob, it's still a nice place. Lots of birthdays and celebrations going on, for us it was a saturday night dinner with old friends. Thank you Armory, the service and food were top notch!!!“

“We went to Fernandes Matawan for the first time June 1, as recommeded by our son for his birthday. The service, food and atmosphere was beyond exceptional. Best calamari I have in a long time, the Sea Bass and fresh vegtables I ordered was excellent as was the 12 oz. filet and lobster tail my husband ordered. My son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren enjoyed their salmon, clams, lobster and shrimp meal choices. Large portions, we all except my husband and son, needed to bring home what we could not finish. Also the pitcher of white sangrera which was perfect. Hats off to the excellent service and food. Bottom line, the menu prices were a little more than what we expected, but it was worth it, you get what you pay for. My husband and I will be going back!“

“My girlfriend and I went last night. On our way we stopped at the gas station adjacent to the restaurant. As I rolled down the window all I could smell is the exhaust from the grill and my stomach immediately started to grumble. Although we have been many many times, our go to is the combo plate of a half chicken and ribs. My girlfriend is not a fan of garlic. Sometimes the rice can be a little garlicky but everything there is delicious.“
“Dinner was great. First timers. We had shrimp in garlic appetizer, combo with 1/2 chicken and ribs-pork, rice and fries. And 1/2 chicken with rice and veggies. Everything was of good quality and very delicious. We’d order from you guys again. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!“

“We went to the Chateau 7/13 for our Granddaughter's birthday. I had mentioned it was her birthday. We had a delicious dinner with sangria. After dinner one of the waiters along with a waitress came over with a Birthday dessert w/candle and even sang Happy Birthday. After we finished the waiter Paulo came back with a glass of Port Wine to finish off the meal. He was very personable.“

“My wife and I ate at Ford's in late December 2024. Boy are we glad we did! After seeing the reviews here and elsewhere, it was very clear we had to come here while we were in the area, and now we know why! We had never experienced Portuguese BBQ before, and holy moley, was it delicious!\n\nI had a lunch-sized chicken and pork ribs combo, and my wife had the lunch-sized chicken and beef ribs combo. All of the meat was absolutely sensational, well cooked, seasoned well, and just melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The BBQ sauce that came with it was also tasty, but honestly we felt like we didn't even need it because the meat was so tender and juicy.\n\nThe fries and yellow rice were also very tasty.\n\nAnd even when you get the lunch-sized portions, you get TONS of food, like we both got more than enough for both lunch and dinner.\n\nThe gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the meal.\n\nI'm not sure when or if we'll be back in the Fords/Woodbridge area, but if we are, we will definitely put this on our "must do" list every time.“

“Was here in on a mini vacation and was recommended to this place . As I woman that works in the food industry this pace was really good !!! They were busy but got our food out in a good quality time . Garlic shrimp was amazing !!! Dave the sauce for dipping your bread and even adding your rice for a nice twist !!! Will def come back ! Staff was friendly . And it’s a byob which makes it great as I’m on a budget with travel . Thank you guys !!!“

“I love Portuguese BBQ as my husband takes home from Linden near his work. I always say it would taste better if they grill Pork /chicken crisper/well done. We went to this new place on our way home to try. OH MY MY I FOUND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR &FLAVOR!!!! DELLLLIIIICCCCIIOOUUUSSSSSS!!!!!“

“This place has become my one of the favorite places to eat in NJ. All dishes have some unique taste to remember. My personal favorite is Half chicken- all dark, Peri peri fries, corn on the cob etc. Clean environment and well mannered staffs. I would highly recommend.“

“First amazing owners, the flavor the presentation of all their pastries and breads are amazing from the sweet bread to their big variety of breads with ham and cheese to die for. Great and amazing cakes for any special occasion.

“Best BBq for your buck, seasoning is on point. Only only bad thing is if your dining in, since there is no ac you will be very uncomfortable and sweat while you eat which no one wants. Foods amazing, staff is great, just too hot to dine in the summer. In the spring, fall, and winter it's chill just don't recommend eating there in the summer. Please go thought and get take out.
Parking: There's only a few, about 4 spots to park around the restaurant, if those are taken which usually are you must park blocks down the road.“
