Hands down my favorite Japanese restaraunt in the area and one of my top 3 overall. My favorite place to go after a hike in Ramapo or Harriman State Park. Been there at least 10 times even though I live almost an hour away. Great sushi at good price, Pork Buns are my favorite, atmosphere is great, complimentary tea is awesome. Plus there is Tawara Mart next door which always has cool imported goods.
I have been enjoying dining at Tawara for over a decade and this review I should have written years ago. This is by far the best Japanese restaurant in Bergen County and managed by an amazing group of people. Certain dishes like the Pork Belly Buns and their sushi are truly life changing and are worth coming here just for those.
