This was my first of hopefully many visits to Monticello. Everything from start to finish was absolutely lovely and extremely tasty. We started with the meatball appetizer which was amazing! My husband had the seafood arrabiata for dinner which had the perfect amount of heat. The taste was magnificent. I had the gnocchi dish which too was amazing. For dessert we shared the bread pudding for a change from our usual type of desserts... and we couldn't be happier that we did. Everything was perfect for our night out. Bring a tasty bottle of wine like we did and you won't be sorry.
I love this restaurant - the food is awesome, the service is exemplary and the ambiance and music is just right!
The service was excellent; our waitress was helpful, informed, friendly, and efficient. The restaurant has a great ambiance and reasonable prices. It is also a BYOB establishment.
Quaint and understated compared to other restaurants in the area, the atmosphere here was exactly right for an evening with friends β relaxed, low-key, the kind of place where you can actually hear each other talk. We won't bore you with a dish-by-dish breakdown; just know that everything we ordered met or exceeded expectations. What really set this place apart, though, was the service β warm, attentive, and genuinely charming in a way that's hard to find. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. We'll definitely be back.
All of us were very happy with our meals, and we each had something different. I believe any dish would be delicious!
My boyfriend and I went there about a month ago. I wish I had done the review right away because I canβt remember exactly what we ate. We had a series of small plates. Everything was beautiful and delicious. The service was gracious and efficient. I love the calm, peaceful old world atmosphere. It is small, tucked away and easy to miss. It is worth seeking out.

Monticello is a very quaint little gem in Red Bank. My salmon dish over risotto was cooked to perfection. The lobster bisque was a meal in its self. The mussels appetizer was also exceptional. The staff was extremely friendly and willing to accommodate. Unfortunately, after eating so much there was no room for dessert. However, I was able to enjoy a great cuppacino after dinner. I definitely will return on my next visit to Red Bank.
We have dined here many times and this time it just seemed really off. Menu changed, was looking forward to filet mignon but no longer on the menu. Meals were just average and one meal was totally wrong but they wouldn't make another meal, they just sent it back to us and gave us a few cookies to satisfy us lol. And to boot, they had the busboy bring it back to us. Manager never came over to us to rectify anything. So wrong. Done with this place!
Gave Monticello another chance after being disappointed twice over the last 8 months. For the third time in a row either management or the kitchen pulled a bait and switch on the broccoli rabe and sausage dish. The sausage was scarce, mushrooms were added as filler, and the broccoli rabe was replaced with regular broccoli crowns and certainly not "rabe". When questioned, the manager had the same excuse - "the vegetable provider did not bring any". Amazing it was the same reason three separately times. So much for the farm to table advertising. The veal parm was average at best. Very small portion with a tiny portion or pasta. The four stale cookies on the house could not save the night. It's a shame because Monticello used to be the go-to in Red Bank.

Very good food, plentiful and flavorful. Excellent service. I like the BYOB. Tables are a little small. Parking as always in Red Bank is an issue
The food was ok. The restaurant was not crowded but the waiter hovered over us. The appetizers we good and the meals just ok. It seems like the quality is suffering and meals are not as good as they used to be.
Great food and service at Monticello ! There are many options that include grill protein , add 2 sides , and the scale looks good the next day π€. There are many other delicious entrΓ©es that my husband tries.
Cozy environment with excellent service and flavorful, quality food to match. Nice for couples and families. Varied menu choices to indulge upon
Monticello is a woman-owned small fine dining Italian restaurant
We've been going for years, and I am always happy with the food and staff. It's low pressure, quiet and comfy. I highly recommend this for an experience where you can hear each other speak, get fine ingredients properly prepared and maybe try something new !
BYOB is best, cause better wine for less money this way.
