I was looking online for a Chinese food place with great reviews when I first heard of Bamboo House. It’s only been a few times that I’ve been able to stop in since I don’t live close, but whenever I’m in Ridgewood, I like to get something to eat here. It’s tough to find a truly great Chinese restaurant & this place lives up to the hype. The portions are generous, the dishes are saucy & flavorful & fresh. What really seals the deal for me though is the service; they are kind & friendly in a warm, sincere way. Bamboo House has been in business for a long time, for good reason. 10/10

To begin with Lady at front desk, was outside smoking, that’s a Nono in a cooking Business.After asking specific details on the food no to much oil , they did totally the opposite. And she handle me the food and said just the way you asked no To much oil.A whole gallon of oil. Vegetable were frozen nasty.

I also dont understand all of the great reviews vs the food quality- and the atmosphere of the restaurant itself, totally cluttered and not normal.The lady / Matriarch here seems super nice, dude at the register - super nice. I’m guessing the people here are super nice!! But my food was kinda crazy.The soup was solidified into a flour-y mass with glutinous, and probably glutenous, crazy wontons. The food was expensive but the quality was.. well. 2 stars for nice people.

I’m so confused as there are so many good reviews but not one person in our family of 5 thought the food was even decent. Maybe we picked a bad night. Rice was undercooked and tasted like chicken when it was “shrimp fried”. Lo mein was mush. Chicken was incredibly dry. It’s such a shame.
