Truly Sichuan - 巴椒 Reviews
Truly Sichuan catered a party I had for 30 people. Renee the owner made the planning process completely stressless. We had the soup dumplings (all guests agreed the best we ever had) and the rest of the food was fresh and so yummy! Almost everyone asked me where the restaurant was because it was the best Chinese food they ever had. The food, Renee and the rest of the staff makes this one of the best gems in Bergen county!!
We had a great dinner at Truly Sichuan. I had seen a Facebook post recommending it, then mentioned it to a few friends on Saturday night. One of them had been there and said it was great. It sure lived up to the hype. We shared the Steamed Pork Dumplings in Sichuan Chili Sauce appetizer which was excellent. I had the General Tso’s Chicken and Megan had the Sautéed Broad Noodles with vegetables. Both were delicious. The owner stopped by to chat with us regarding her philosophy...read full review

Truly Sichuan - 巴椒 offers flavorful Sichuan cuisine with a focus on Sichuan peppercorns, which give dishes a unique mouth-numbing sensation. The restaurant is known for its carefully prepared food that is consistently well-executed. It features a spacious setting in a central location, making it easy to access. Customers can find street parking, a parking lot behind the restaurant, and nearby free parking within a short walk.
Many reviews mention that the food is very good, with some favorite dishes like the vegetarian mapo tofu, which is spicy, generous, and better than homemade. The soup dumplings are praised for their hot soup inside, and the fried rice is noted for its buttery taste and good cooking. The dark meat chicken and chicken with bok choy are also popular, often ordered for their healthy aspects. Diners appreciate the friendly service, though some find it a bit slow, and note that the atmosphere isn’t special, but the place is never crowded.
Recent visitors enjoyed the Singapore Rice Noodles in a dry curry sauce, mixed with shredded pork loin, shrimp, chicken, and eggs, with a light spice. Other dishes like Chicken and Eggplant in Garlic Sauce and Shrimp Lo Mein were also well-received, though some found the sauce not very garlicky or expected a different noodle type. The restaurant offers a take-out vibe but still provides a satisfying dining experience. Overall, Truly Sichuan is considered one of the best Chinese options in the area.
