“Oh wow this was an awesome find. Staff were so nice and accommodating, food was fantastic, restaurant is beautiful and spacious. Oh did I mention the awesome prices — what a steal of a deal— only $13 dollars for an amazing hot pot of noodles ????.
We figured it was a great place when the couples we saw leaving the place were smiling and stopped to tell us it was a fun time.“

“The pho was excellent—rich broth and great flavor. Just a heads-up: they don’t accept cards, so it's cash only. The place isn’t the cleanest or most polished, but honestly, that seems to be pretty common with a lot of authentic Vietnamese spots. Worth it for the food.“

“I’ve been coming to Chengdu Famous Food regularly—it truly feels like my second dining hall. The food is made by authentic chefs and aunties from Sichuan, and it shows: every dish is bursting with flavor, the portions are generous, and the prices are incredibly fair.
What really sets this place apart is the warmth of the service. Every staff member is kind, attentive, and welcoming. It’s rare to find a place that tastes like home and treats you like family.
If you're craving real Sichuan food near Penn or Drexel, this is the spot. Highly recommended!“

“This place is a GEM hiding in plain sight! The food is GREAT. (The space is a former long-time Chinese-American spot, so don't get worried about the atmosphere or service.)
Curious for a long time and more, I ordered Summer Rolls (#2), Shrimp Summer Rolls (#3), and Spring Rolls (#1). I ate the first two (two of each per order, fyi) and they were SPECTACULAR. Particularly with the table side brown sauce and chili dips that were available. The Shrimp Summer Rolls are filled with veggies, clear noodles and come with two large shrimp. The wrap of the roll is also clear, so you see what you get. GET THIS.
Next, I got three Bahn Mi Hoagies. Pork (#18), Chicken (#19), and Tofu (#20). I had the Pork and Chicken. Like the Rolls, they were GREAT and of course I added the above sides.
Regarding the Spring Roll (#3) and the Tofu Banh Mi hoagie (#20), I brought this to a family member who is part Asian and a Pacific Islander. She said the food was *a ten*.
Finally, I got Fried Dumplings (#12). Same as above. ?
At the end of my visit, pleasantries were exchanged in French (the colonial experience) and it was a perfect finishing touch to this awesome, rather unplanned experience.
GO HERE. SUPPORT SOUTH STREET.

Vegetarian options: My mention family member here is vegetarian and is highly complimentary of the food eaten here.“

“Having to enjoyed places like Yank Sing in San Francisco, Din Tai Fung in Los Angeles, Lunasia in Pasadena, Boston Seafood in San Gabriel, and many more, this place is among the top and the best value.
Pork Soup Dumplings at $6 and Crystal Shrimp Dumplings at $7.50 is a crazy deal for such quality and taste.
We paid $165 per person ($500 total) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a set menu which provided 8 dishes. Vs. Heng Feng paid only $46 for two people enjoying five dishes. I must say, I had a 10x better experience at Heng Feng than 10x more pricier fancy place.
Even the owner was so nice and cool.
Will come back again for sure.“

“Had a very satisfying meal here. The dumplings were delicious. I tried the boiled and pan-fried dumplings, and I like the boiled ones better. The pan-fried ones looked smaller than in the picture, and the filling was a bit too salty for me. The boiled dumplings were perfect though. The dumpling skin was just the right thickness (not too thick, but also not wonton-wrapper-thin), and the filling was flavorful and juicy. There were probably 1-2 shrimp pieces in each filling.
The scallion pancake was also so good. It was flaky (like a roti) and really not too greasy, which I appreciate because scallion pancakes usually are really greasy. They were very fragrant and just made perfectly.
The beef tendon was also good. It had a good chew, and wasn't cooked down too much, which is how I like it. It was on the saltier side though.
The mushroom meat noodles weren't bad, but probably my least favorite thing out of everything we ordered. Everything else was just really good. The mushroom mix was a bit sour (and not from the picked mustard). The noodles were a bit overcooked and a little bit too thick for my liking. The clear broth it came with was fragrant, light, and comforting though.
Would love to return. Food was delicious and satisfying. Out of everything, my favorites were the boiled dumplings and scallion pancakes. Service was great, and atmosphere was clean and calm (they were playing some jazz music surprisingly). I did find it odd though that the servers rushed to give us the check and made us sign when we were still eating, even though the store was 90% empty (we came in at 11am Saturday). I wasn't sure what that was about, but the service leading to that point had all been fine.“

“Absolutely amazing vegan tofu and noodle dish with Dan Dan sauce with a nutty tahini flavor and chili oil. Their descriptions are really helpful on the menu. Very glad to have them in south philly near us with so many vegan options and gluten free options on top of the regular menu that my husband chose from.“

“Cheap! This is a noodle factory, and you can see the staff making noodles in the back. They have a few prepared selections that they will heat up for you, including tasty BBQ pork buns. Most of the single serving options they have are about $2. You can also buy homemade Chinese desserts and pounds of fresh noodles.“

“Great wonton noodle soup house. Quintessential Chinatown experience. Wonton Soup still pre-Covid priced at $7.50/bowl. Extras inflated the cost but brought me back to lunches and its friends and family. Served with hot tea and appetizer plate of roast pork, duck, and crispy pork belly. Fed four of us at $80 with tip. Come in for a regular meal in Chinatown. No fancy experience but good home cooked meal.“

“As a loyal Honeygrow lover with a Rewards membership, the cooks with longer hair NEED hairnets! In my opinion, the food is too good to worry about finding a long strand of hair in my Garlic Shrimp Stirfry.
That’s the only reason for 4 stars but overall service and quality of food is TOP TIER!
Please take into account my suggestion on the Hairnets!“

“Got to the restaurant and we were seated immediately, given menus, and they seemed to sense as soon as we were ready to order, no waiting involved. The food was amazing! The broth of the beef noodle soup was so rich and hot, the cold sesame noodles were the right level of spicy and very chewy, and the Chinese hamburgers were fresh, warm, and crispy on the outside/soft on the inside (try adding chili oil!) Everything came out very quickly and fed our whole table for such great prices.“

“Lunch at a restaurant serving Fujianese food, which I was unfamiliar with. Very simple, bare bones place for a quick in and out meal.
Pork dumplings - Solid
Peanut butter noodles - Good. Very mild in flavor but nice.
Fishballs - Came out as a soup with meat stuffed in balls of dough. Was expecting something else. But a light, pleasant soup.
Lychee pork - Kind of a higher end version of sweet and sour pork with more emphasis on the sour. Made with deep fried pork and came with tomatoes and broccoli mixed in. Good and would get again.
Fried taro cakes - Mildly flavored with nice texture.
Everything was nice. Overall food was mild and savory. Each table had a squirt bottle of vinegar for garnish. Wish I knew what I should put it on, ha.
Would definitely like to try some of the other items on the menu. A variety of different soups seem to be a highlight at the place.
Excellent prices. Only take cash.“

“I wish I knew this place sooner! The owner was so inviting and amazing . I ordered 2 items, I came into the store not only was she nice, but she also made FRESH chive dumplings for me to eat while I was watiting for my food. Not only that she got me a free dessert to try and a free thai tea for my wife to try as well. NOT giving five stars because of the free food etc. But the food and drinks were actually AMAZING. I'm a vietnamese/ malaysian and Thai food reminds me of home. It's hard to find good thai food here in new jersey. Now that I've tried this place out I will be back for more! The location can be easily missed, if not paying atttention but please you guys gotta give it a try TRUST!“
