Great atmosphere, phenomenal service -both bartender (Leslie? Or Lisa?) And server (forgot his name but has been there for 27 years? And you can tell because he was awesome!!!) and even better BACON! My roomate thought his Philly cheesesteak was amazing, and my Bacon cheeseburger? I would drive back there JUST for another one. Doesn't hurt my feelings that the prices were beyond resonable either!

A locals bar with attached liquor store, sports on tvs and live music sometimes, at least they used to. I haven't sat in the upstairs dining room in decades but it's there. The food and drink have always been solid. The clam chowder is a must. It is family friendly as well.

Best New England Clam Chowder anywhere and the Atmosphere it's Amazing
My husband and I thought we’d head to the Gateway tonight since we haven’t been there in awhile. The owner of the restaurant cleaned house and fired all the old staff who were great! It wasn’t busy at all and we sat at the bar waiting to be served, there was a bartender behind the bar who said she was off the clock counting tips…. and then the other bartender went into the liquor store area and came out with a couple boxes of canned drinks. Right in front of us she started opening all the boxes and putting them into the ice to get cold. She didn’t even acknowledge us sitting right in front of her….. she should have asked us first what would we like to drink and then gone back to putting the cans into the ice. We couldn’t believe it! We just got up and walked out. The food has always been good there, but the staff is horrible now!!!! My husband and I have put the sign of the cross on that place, never again!!!!!

It was past prime hours close to 930pm. The bar was open to eat at which was fine.
Staff was really friendly and enthusiastic. Bar drinks were quality. A group of 5 had soups burgers and pastrami sandwiches. All came out quickly and hot.
Overall, it is better than expected and will be back.
Parking: Again, it was towards closing, but there is parking in front and on the sides.

I have gone to the Gateway about once a season for 4 decades. A great place to get a cold beer, pizza, and maybe take in some music. Lately, however, we've been going to the Gateway more often. Why? Because the food is fantastic, you can always get a table or a seat at the bar, and the prices are reasonable, unlike other places of this caliber on LBI. Come back to the Gateway folks, you don't know what you've been missing!

Posted menu prices are 5 years old as are the pics. Burger= $18. Chowder cup = $10.99 wings (6) $18. No longer has any music.
Not a bad place. Met a lifelong friend.
Couple of drinks. Place was empty.
When we're down at LBI, we always stop there for Clam CHOWDER. for 8 years in a row its considered the best soup in the state. Today was no exception.
