“Visited this restaurant during the Valentine's Day weekend with my husband and I must say the food was delicious. I experienced their whole housemaid spring rolls, their chive patties and their vegetarian curry puffs, all of which were very delicious. I especially enjoyed their curry puffs, and the garnish that they have on the side is even good with it. For my main entree, I had the drunken noodles and I got it tie hot and it was with some mock duck. The mocked duck was delicious. My husband also got the peanut coffee. Hurry with mock duck and white rice on the side. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for some good Thai food in the union area. The service was okay. They could have used another server. As the only one server for the whole restaurant, which created a longer wait time. But again, the wait was worth it. Because the food was so efficient.“

“When my fiancée's Thai food craving hit, we decided to break from our usual routine and try SLA Thai for the first time. Ordering take out through DoorDash, we went with two noodle dishes and a classic dessert to get a proper taste of their offerings.

My fiancée chose the Pad Kemao, a flat noodle dish with shrimp and eggplant. While she found it satisfying with well-cooked shrimp and pleasant eggplant texture, it didn't quite reach the heights of her favorite version from Papa Thai in Bloomfield. The flavors were good but somewhat muted compared to what she's used to, decent but not remarkable enough to dethrone her go-to spot.

I opted for the Pad See Ew and was pleasantly surprised despite an initial strong fishy aroma when opening the container (likely from oyster or fish sauce). The first bite won me over with fresh, perfectly chewy noodles and that great balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors Thai food does so well. My only real complaint was the complete lack of spice, a real miss since DoorDash didn't offer spice level customization for this order. Next time I'll definitely call ahead to request some heat, because what's Thai food without a little kick?

For dessert we tried the Sweet Mango Sticky Rice, which my mango-loving fiancée was especially excited about. The coconut flavor in the rice was spot on, rich and aromatic. Although some of the rice was disappointingly dry and hard, like it had been sitting for a while. The saving grace was the perfectly ripe, sweet mango that she devoured happily. I found it a bit too sugary for my taste, but then again, I'm not the mango enthusiast in this relationship. It's a dessert that would satisfy anyone with a serious sweet tooth, assuming the rice comes out fresher next time.

Overall, SLA Thai delivered a solid takeout experience with some clear highlights (that Pad See Ew in particular) and a few areas for improvement. The noodle dishes showed good technique with fresh ingredients, though the inability to specify spice levels through DoorDash was frustrating.

While it didn't surpass our favorite Thai spot, it's definitely a place we'd order from again - though next time I'll be calling ahead to request spice adjustments and maybe crossing my fingers for better-executed sticky rice. For a first try, it was promising enough that we'd give them another shot when we're in the mood for something different.“

It's been awhile since my brother and myself have gotten together, for lunch with work commits and plain ol just schedule conflicts.

We decided to go to a Thai place by him, I def dig on Thai food, too.

We were seated quickly, with a very easy read menu with pictures for ppl we never offered Thai inspired food, before.

My go-to is Hot Sweet Basil Chicken, with my brother giving a great review of this place I decided on Garlic Grilled Chicken Breast as my main lunch special and side of Chive pancakes, that comes with soup or salad I decided on the Tom Yum Soup(Hot & Sour).

We ordered an appetizer of Fried Tofu among us, it came with an sweet Chili sauce for dipping.

With the timing perfect our main lunch as we finished the appy.

The presentation of my Garlic Grilled Chicken with a nice portion of scoop white rice... The (light brown) garlic sauce clung to the grilled chicken topped with onions and string beans that sat upon grilled crossed hatch markinga.

My side of Chive pancakes was just at the right crispness and warmth to be dipped in the included slightly chilled Spicy Brown Soy sauce made it a perfect tasty match.

With such a strong price point and value for lunchtime, I'll definitely come back for another visit.“

“Went for lunch and the place was very cute! Nicely decorated and lots of seating available. I got the thai iced tea which was rich and creamy and the pad kee mao that had lots of flavor in the sauce and is not too salty. The vegan puffs were flaky and soft. Will definitely come again!“

Not a favorable process. I ordered Tom Tom noodles with seafood, spicy. The broth was over the top spicy. Reason was simple. Rather than slicing the Thai chillie in half, it was chopped finely, hence increasing the heat factor exponentially. I like very spicy food but this was over the top for me.“

The service has always been good up until yesterday. I ordered my food online but I wanted to eat there because my lunch is too short so I waste time walking back to work with my lunch. I think they were upset because when 2 women served me food and water, I said THANK YOU and they both ignored me. They smiled at their other guest but looked serious with me. You didn’t go “above and beyond” because when I called to order my food to eat it there, the girl on the phone said you don’t do that so I still ordered my food online and when I got there I ASKED you to warm it up. Even if it wasn’t allowed, you should’ve told me instead of giving me attitude and treating me with disgrace. I’ve ordered many times there, I put money into your business I even recommend this restaurant to people so you should’ve told be professional!

By the way, the drunken noodles I ate yesterday only contained 2 pieces of tofu and barely any sauce, it was dry.“
