Warning - be prepared to wait for your food. Apps came out fast but entrees took a lot longer than we had expected. Empanadas were good as were the bread and butter and olives provided to our table. Entrees were overall fine - the picanha was the most solid - steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned and were accompanied by tasty collard greens (slightly undercooked) and rice and beans. Best dish at the table by far Bacalao dish was ok as was my steak salad dish. Tomatoes and bell peppers were fresh but the mesclun mix wasn't the freshest unfortunately. Flan was flavorful but a bit hard/dense.

Poor quality of food preparation . I lived in Brasil over 8 years. They have little idea of the dish makeup. My cod dish was mostly cubes potatoes. The salmon was dry and the dish was loaded with mashed potatoes and broccoli ( inexpensive ingredients) All of our dishes were overpriced by at least 30%. Service was pleasant but food wait was close to an hour. ( we were one of two tables in the restaurant. Sorry to say this place will not survive much longer...too bad as the food of Brasil is so delicious !

The Pros: Friendly, helpful, courteous staff. Absolute gentlemen (Saturday afternoon shift). And I'm sorry I have to write this review, because they did a great job. The Cons: Overpriced, poorly prepared food. Unacceptable. Salmon portion was small, partially burnt and impossibly dry (unacceptable in general, even moreso for $32). I chewed my way through it and washed it down as best I could. It ceased to be a pleasurable experience upon first sight (and especially first bite). The risotto that accompanied it was pretty good. A $10 order of empanadas gets you three (3) of them, and when you bite into them, you realize they're empty of whatever you thought was in them (the "cheese" one was pretty much a fried hollow shell). Shocking. If someone were to tell me I was going to get robbed today, I would've pictured getting held up at gunpoint, not getting shafted on some empanadas. An absolute insult. The best (aka worst) part of it all was the $16 sausage (yes, as in one sausage; singular). Like ... Who are you guys kidding? We had to laugh. At least throw two of them onto that flambé dish. Absolute robbery! Calamari was good, but--no surprise--overpriced for the small portion we received. Taking it all into consideration, a terrible meal, and I really regret having to say it, because the staff was excellent and the restaurant is spotless and comfortable. But it all was so expensive that I feel I have to. Two weeks ago we (same group) ate at a nearby BYOB restaurant and ate ten times better for about $40 less on final bill. I won't name the restaurant, but the salmon entree alone was less expensive and double (no lie) what we got here, and delicious. It's really not so much the food as the sense that we were taken advantage of. And frankly, given all the years we've been going to Newark to eat Portuguese, we should've known better, but that's the risk you run when you try new spots. Hit or miss. When I think of Portuguese restaurants I think of their generous portions, excellent service, and perfectly prepared seafood. Here, with the exception of the great service, we got skimped on the good stuff, and charged for it anyway. No way, Jose. Again, my apologies to the waiters. They were excellent. Went above and beyond for us. But ... Next time, Ironbound.

Decided to give Serra a try. Portuguese food usually involves heading to the Ironbound so I was eager to give this Summit local a go. Open for dining but not many people were here which made me a little nervous. We started with the Octopus House Style which was delicious. The only part we weren't fans of were the potatoes on the dish. Felt unneeded for such a healthy plate. We split the Paella Marinheira which was huge and delicious. Every bite a delight. There was a $5.00 sharing fee. We also got a flan to go which my Wife devoured. Nice people hope they get more business because the food was so good. Parking is available in lot or on street but can be difficult at times.

Food is eh. Asked for medium rare and it came out raw, asked them to put it back on and then it came back well done. We were the only ones in the restaurant so not sure why the issues.

Have been here with family and friends several times and it has always been fantastic. The food, friendly service and ambience are just wonderful. The octopus, steak, cod fish croquettes, empanadas, paella and feijoada were all authentically delicious. BYOB and conveniently located in town so it saves us a trip to the Ironbound in Newark.

Very ordinary. My shrimp dish was very tasty Unfortunately, my boyfriends dinner was "sad".white rice??tough pork loin. No veggies. Plate essentially bare. Bread was ordinary.how do you serve WHITE rice in a Portuguese restaurant? Oh, the chips soggy too. Water was nice and cold.diet soda nice and cold. Most items listed MP. Except chicken and shrimp. Huge letdown for Summit.Hard to navigate from outside street.Terribly disappointing.

I went to this restaurant because I enjoy Portuguese food a lot. But, unfortunately, I was disappointed. The food lacked flavor, especially salt. In addition, I was charged $2.50 for paying with a credit card. There aren’t any lunch specials and for what I got, food seems overpriced.

Takeout food was good, slightly expensive for the quantity, but it is expected as it is a higher class restaurant. What I would not expect is that one item is missing from the order, I send two emails, and they never follow up. Yet unresolved after 45 days.

The food was tasty and the service was good...Knocked off one star because each of our entrees came out 5 minutes apart. The kitchen was apparently understaffed, still no excuse.Knocked off another star because I could barely find the octopus in the Polvo a Lagareiro entrée. Mostly potatoes, peppers, and onions. If you are going to charge 'MP' for this entree, be sure to put a little more than 3 ounces (if that) of octopus in the dish. In Newark, you're getting at least a one full tentacle. $30+ for this dish is robbery.Almost knocked off another star because their website does not indicate they are BYOB and there was no mention when the reservation was made. Fortunately, there was a liquor store near by.

The food was a little pricy. service was okay , we asked for side of French fries they didn’t have it. I ordered filet mignon medium it was over done and dry. Sent it back waited 20 minutes they bring another one that was still raw like blue in the middle I felt bad for the waitress so I didn’t sent back I just took it home. I don’t think I’m going back again
