Exceptional bed and breakfast ...charming with lots of history ..Vicki the Inn Keeper as well as her entire staff are warm, friendly and service is excellent...the selections of soups , salads, finger sandwiches are unique and delicious. Special event dinners provide great entertainment and again a wide variety of tasty meals presented beautifully...I have never had anything less than a five star experience each and everytime...

We had a lovely time. The food was excellent. Loved the cream of mushroom soup. Great time with my mom, daughter, DIL and granddaughter.

We had the pleasure of having tea at the Mathias House, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Our host, Ashlyn, was fantastic! Supper sweet, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable.

The tea selection was excellent (the Sweater Weather flavor was my favorite!), and every bite of food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Everything was delicious and filling.

The house itself is stunning! And the live pianist added the perfect touch to the experience.

Pricing was very reasonable and well worth every penny. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time and service is always good. The scones were VERY disappointing this time. Thin and soft not like a scone at all. Have been a few times would probably go back in hopes the scones are better next time

We cannot thank the staff enough for accommodating our “Girl’s Weekend” in anticipation of my daughter’s upcoming wedding. Our weekend started off on Friday at Mathis House with a lovely afternoon Tea in beautiful Victorian surroundings. Our server Evan was attentive, warm and made us feel at home. The food and tea selections were plentiful, delicious and satisfying. After tea, we made our way down the block to Huddy House and was greeted warmly by Vicky who gave us a tour of our accommodations and had a lovely charcuterie board waiting for us in the dining room to boot! Our accommodations were enchanting and we especially enjoyed spending time in the charming sun room. Each morning we enjoyed our scrumptious breakfasts at Mathis House (especially the scalloped potatoes) before setting out on our local excursions. The staff was intuitive, attentive, and ensured that we would have a fantastic experience. The luxurious experience, peaceful setting and professional staff exceeded our expectations. We left feeling brand new, tranquil and relaxed. I cannot recommend enough!!

It's the perfect place to getaway. It feels like you are stepping back in time from the moment you arrive. The ambiance is beautiful. The rooms and beautiful & clean. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I had balloons delivered to surprise my husband and they put them in the room for me before we arrived. The staff was helpful from the first welcome text message to minute we left.

Mathis House is my go to place when I just need a reset or want a romantic weekend. The house is beautiful and so comfortable. The staff is amazing. If you get a chance to do an afternoon tea, it's well worth it. The tea and food are delicious.

The Mathis House may indeed be very nice, if you stay there. We were only able to get a room at it's sister property, Huddy House, and it certainly felt like an afterthought. We ended up passing on breakfast in order to get out of there.

After getting a message that we could check in early, we arrived about an hour earlier than the usual time. No staff were around. My daughter called the two numbers she got for the hosts, but no one answered or returned the calls.

We were left to figure things out on our own. The shared bathrooms were down the hall, but the only open one had no soap for the bath. The only mirror was hung so high up, I could only see the top of my head. All the linens had a strong perfumy smell and seemed to be full of fabric softener buildup.

There was no temperature control in the room, and it was too warm, so we slept poorly with the ceiling fan on high all night.

A tray of snacks was out on the dining room table when we arrived, fruit and cheese. The same tray was still sitting there, partially eaten, in the morning when we left.

The breakfast required a more than two-block walk down the street, and was served only at 9 am. As veterans of B & Bs, we never saw such a thing. It is always a range, to accommodate both early birds and later sleepers. We were offered a basket by 8:30, but, having been up since 5:30, wanted only to leave and get on with our day.

My husband and I stumbled upon the Mathis House while looking for a unique place to stay for an event we were attending in the area. Sadly, Mathis House was full but the sister property The Huddy House had one available room. What a treat! The Huddy House is beautiful; our room was wonderful and breakfast was outstanding. Not much more to say except the entire experience was exceptional. Inn Keeper Vicky is a gem. We highly recommend checking this place out for an afternoon tea or an overnight get away.
