“From start to finish… the food, drinks, service, atmosphere, music, time… everything was exceptional! The hanger steak and Brazilian pork chop are amazing and their sautéed mushrooms and collard greens are out of this world! Oh, and don’t forget the hot sauce- it’s fire! Highly recommend this restaurant to any and all looking for a special night out!“
“I was recommended by a dear friend and can't thank her enough.I’m glad I visited the Tavern. Let me tell you what I was missing so close to home. Great menu choices of delicious food with reasonable prices. The hospitality was amazing. Felt right at home, they really know how to welcome you. I highly recommend this place. If nothing else satisfy you, try them. It’s a definitely do over for me.“
“Very impressed. Unique restaurant as it has two rstaurants in one. One side I had visited in the past 2 years and I loved the food but ambiance was missing and you were close to patrons at the bar. The other side checked all the boxes. Ambiance, decor, and service - warm bread unfrozen butter with cloth napkins. More importantly, I think ,was the quality and quantity of food - fantastic. The price was fantastic also. For three people with two beers, one glass of wine and one soda with appies and entrees, and one dessert was $112. Salads are free, and you can order more salads - still free.Atmosphere was convivial. Will be going again.WeVegetarian options: One vegetarian with us loved the eggplant, and they accommodated her request for more veggies and skipped the usual pasta. Great service and again great food. Don't think you can go wrong here. 665 Monroe Ave., Elizabeth N. J.“
“Stopped in to check out the place for a private party. Had a quick fancy drink, that was amazingly delicious! The owner is very friendly and the place is as clean as a whistle! Definitely coming back hereParking: Had to circle around a few times to find parking. Someone left so I was lucky!“
“A very large and reasonably priced bakery that also serves great egg and cheese sandwiches on Portuguese rolls. I also tried the egg custard which were super fresh and not overly sweet. Their coffee was also tasted really fresh and delicious. The ladies at the register don't speak English really well so it may take some time to order your food but service otherwise was fantastic. They also have a ton of seating indoors and was pretty clean. Highly recommend!“
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Envy Bar and Grille and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The blend of Portuguese and American cuisine on the menu was both unique and delicious. The flavors were a perfect marriage of both cultures. The ambiance of the restaurant was also a standout feature. The cool artwork around the space added a trendy and modern vibe. It was a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.I also want to give a shoutout to our waitress who provided exceptional service throughout our meal. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.Overall, I highly recommend Envy Bar and Grille for anyone looking for a unique dining experience in Newark. The food, atmosphere, and service all exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be returning in the future.Parking: No parking lot for the restaurant. Need to find street parking which depending on the day and time you go -is not a problem.“
“Looks like a BBQ place, smells like a BBQ place. Food was to die for! Me and my father came here to eat on his 30 minute break, and they were very quick with our food. I'm picky when it comes to seafood, especally where I get it from, but I walked out with a to-go order of garlic shrimp and I'm very happy I was talked into taking some home, its sooooo good.Everyone was friendly and we were always checked up on, I will definitely be returning.“
“I was in the ironbound section of Newark to have my dog groomed when I decided to wander the streets and learn about the neighborhood. I saw that Portugalia Bar & Restaurant was rated well so I thought I'd give it a shot.I sat at the bar and got in a conversation with a local. He recommended I try the chicken and he was spot on! It was spiced just right and tasty, the olives were delicious and the cranberry juice was refreshing. The carbs were too plentiful so I ate them sparingly. The server was friendly and gave great service.Bottom line: This place is a neighborhood gem with fair prices and yummy food. The locals are friendly and down to earth. It's not fancy, but it was what I wanted and a perfect setting to experience the area.“
“I met a couple of my old coworkers there December 20th after 4 years. I wanted to go to a highly rated family-run place and this establishment didn't disappoint. The burgers, meatloaf and pita wraps were excellent. The owner Vinnie greeted us and seated us, then came by to chat with us. The server was attentive and seemed to like her job. About a 15 - 20 minute walk from the Harrison PATH station. I will be making future visits there with old collegues.“
“Went out with my family for Mothers Day 2.0 and got treated like royalty by Enrique and the entire staff. Truly an amazing restaurant and loved the fact that we didn't have to fight for parking because of the parking lot. That's definitely a novelty on a Sunday afternoon around here.Parking: Parking lot across the street“
“Before Mellencamp concert we dined at Campinos with excellent choice of salmon and filet mignon/chicken/shrimp dinners. Ambiance was wonderful!Only regret was not saving belly space & time to have one of their tempting desserts. We did enjoy a nutty Irish man! (Coffee) And John was a great show!We look forward to another dining experience next time we head to Newark for some culture!Parking: If you go early, you should get a spot.“
“This place is delightful. My go to is the Portuguese rolls breakfast sandwich. It's the best in the area. The empanadas are pretty good too. Pastel de nata ::drool emoji:: say less. You can't leave here without a dessert. Stop here if you want good eats“
“My dad first put me on this restaurant by its delicious, fresh takeout food. We'd typically order octopus or whole fish. My parents decided to take us out for our birthday and it was not a disappointment. I felt like I was in Portugal without actually traveling there and it's a home away from home from the moment you walk in.Everyone ordered different entrées and each dish offered a unique, top-quality taste. If you're looking for an authentic Portuguese spot in the Hudson County area, Pic-Nic is your go-to!Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian option available on the menu.Parking: About 11 or 12 parking spaces and street parking is very difficult given the area.Kid-friendliness: While there is no kids menu, there are few options available for children.Wheelchair accessibility: Whether parked in the lot or on the street, you can easily access the lot, entrance and seating area with a wheelchair.“
“The food is made with fresh ingredients right in front of you. My omelet was delicious with a large amount of home fries. Would highly recommend a visit.Kid-friendliness: The owner is a friendly guy with many regular customers who are unique in many ways.“
“I recently dined at this restaurant and had a delightful experience. The fried calamari and flatbread appetizers were delicious, setting a high standard for the rest of the meal. For the entree, I opted for the lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The food quality was excellent, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. Apart from the food, the atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic. The ambiance was inviting, and the cleanliness of the place added to the overall pleasant dining experience. The staff were attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall positive vibe of the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. The combination of delicious food, great atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a standout choice.“
“My wife and I were on our way to another restaurant that had closed. A neighbor recommended Sol-Mar. I am glad that he did as we had a wonderful dining experience. While we did not have a reservation, we were readily received and seated. The food was great. I had the Seafood Paella, and my wife had the Bronzino. We will he back.“
“Good place ,good food and service at decent prices..Parking: Parking is ok . But on weekends and busy days Parking lot is always full. Have to find Parking on the street.. But it's worthwhile..Wheelchair accessibility: My mom uses a wheelchair. It's accessible..“
“Adega Grill is our go-to for special occasions: graduation, birthday, anniversary, etc! The seafood platter is a treat for me and my family of 4! There's enough food for all of us! Tomahawk is a must try, especially to steak lovers out there! Don't forget to order a glass or pitcher of sangria!“
“The space is small, but this is more of a takeout place. The portions are large and therefore you don't need to make many orders and the food is great. Everything is ready when they tell you it will be. you don't have to wait for your order for too long. I definitely recommend as a quick solution if you don't feel like cooking.“
“Honestly one of the best restaurants I've been to, it seems like a cozy place and highly recommended. And I went on Saturday and Monday, both waitresses treated me very well, they were very friendly and I loved the seafood soup and beef ribs service.“
“In town on business, my colleague and I found this place on Google. I was so impressed that I went back the following night by myself for dinner! It is an amazing place. Every dish we tried was absolutely fantastic, and the service is top-notch. The bartenders were as friendly and efficient as they came. The owner was present during both visits with a welcoming smile. I like places that have regulars, and many patrons were longtime regulars. If you are in town, this restaurant is a must visit.“
“02.23.24 I was looking for a 'chill spot' conveniently located between work and home. I went on Yelp and this place popped up. I just got off work and I arrived about 10:20pm. This bar/restaurant was still serving food from the entire menu. Andrea made my classic margaritas (5 star). I paired the margaritas with caldo Verde soup (5 star) and clams casino (3 stars). If I get off work early again and I'm not in the mood for typical 'bar food', this is definitely my 'go to' spot.“
“I live in the Ironbound, but the prices and quality of food is so much better here. The meat is of excellent quality and the service is great. If you come on a Sunday like I did, get here before 1pm because it gets packed quickly. The place is small but very nice. The parihada for 2, is enough for 3 or 4.“
“If you are a fan of Nandos you will like this place! Dont get me wrong, it's not as good but if you want to save yourself the drive to DC. This is a great option. The fries were out of this world! Ask them to put the seasoned salt on them. The chicken had great flavor but i wish it wasn't just a sauce they put on top vs marinating it with it. The other thing that i noticed is you have to buy majority of the menu items separately, which i didn't like too much.“
“The food is always fresh and the steak tender cooked to perfection. The ambience is causual comfortable and fun. No loud music to interfere with good conversation with your party. The service is outstanding always clean neat and smiling as they serve you. The best sangria I have ever had. I have become a regular here and know the waiter and waitress names and each of them have their special way of making me feel welcomed and ready to serve. 5 Stars and highly recommended.“
“What a great little spot food was yummy we had the clams in the garlic sauce to start which was nicely cooked. I then had the grilled swordfish which was juicy and yummy. Very chill environment with a pleasant and accommodating staff. Read online the ownership changed recently and wish them the best of luck the only downside was parking but one of the joys of Kearny unfortunately.“
“The best Brazilian restaurant in NJ. Delicious food, each bite is a flavorful journey through Brazil's rich culinary heritage, from tender churrasco to savory feijoada. The attentive staff ensures every need is met with warmth and hospitality, making every visit a memorable. A must-visit for any food enthusiast seeking an authentic taste of Brazil!“
“Typical tasty portuguese barbecue with huge portions. Differently from other places, this one has a liquor license. The place looks like an old diner, very charming. There is parking in the back. Cheap, great for takeout but comfortable for dine-in.“
“Paulo’s BBQ is a hidden gem catering to the South Plainfield community. The food is fresh and delicious, and the drinks, particularly the spicy mango margarita, is a MUST. The manager, Matheus and his exceptional stsff exceed expectations to ensure every visit is memorable and pleasurable. If you find yourself in the area, don't hesitate to give this place a chance. You'll leave satisfied, guaranteed.“
“Cool spot. My family and I tried this place out last week. We loved the decor and the cleanliness of the place. I ordered the shrimp and garlic as a meal. They added a side of rice. It was very tasty. It wasn’t salty and super seasoned like most places. The portion was a nice size for 18$. My husband ordered picanha - the meat was fresh and cooked well. It was missing a little salt for our taste but that’s an easy fix. The deserts were amazing (variety) and the coffee was too. It’s family friendly. They have parking out front for a few cars. Street parking maybe a problem on weekends but it’s worth the try.“
“Great place for bar, to watch the games. Home to 12 flavors of Sangria in a pitcher. They have take away containers as well if you care to enjoy one with your significant other at home. They have film dining as well. Great for date night. Dinner for 2 unde $100“
“The term don't judge a book by its cover, perfectly describes Cafe Avenida. Friends had invited me several times and I was very hesitant based on the restaurants exterior. Doesn't help that NJ's best burger (Krug's) is directly across the street.Wow am I glad I finally tried them out, my T-Bone steak was perfectly grilled medium well. My wife had the grilled Picanha with rice and fresh cut fries. The food was rustically served on wood plates which made the whole experience all the better. Service was on point, very friendly, and we never waited more than a minute to get additional drinks. The server even brought me to thru the kitchen to see the brick oven grill behind the building. Very impressive setup.“
“Always great food. Staff shows all effort, especially if Spanish is not your strength. The bread is amazing. Calamari were hot and fresh, and the sauce is better than at most restaurants. Vegetables are cooked well. Shish kebabs of shrimp, pork, chorizo and steak is big and tasty. The sangria is very good, red or white.“
“Authentic Portuguese cuisine!Daily specials available.Love the white sangria. My husband enjoys the grilled octopus. The shrimp and churico appetizer was so tasty and great for dipping the Portuguese rolls in the sauce. When you order an entree- you have choice of salad or soup.Dessert tray is presented after your meal.Loved the Serradura ~ Portuguese Sawdust Pudding!Expresso and cappuccino are great.Servers attentive and friendly.Typically just walk in and are immediately seated.Haven’t made reservations.Parking on site.“
“A converted house with tables and a BBQ in the front yard. Like being in rural Portugal and it might help if you speak a little Portuguese. Hearty homestyle cooking. Mostly grilled meats and fish with some specialities, menu changes every day. Typical Portuguese appetizers, soups, desserts and liquor too. Reasonable prices. I had to think hard about publishing this review because I want to keep it intimate local and almost private, but you deserve this. An archetype dining experience.“
“We ordered catering from North Newark BBQ for a business event, and the food was outstanding. The pork ribs and rotisserie chicken were perfectly cooked and tender, seasoned just right with a flavorful dry rub. We also ordered a seafood platter, which was a big hit! The garlic green sauce paired wonderfully with the freshness of the shellfish. Danny & Cilinha executed my requests flawlessly and delivered everything on time. If you're seeking a unique dining experience, this is the place to go!“
“amazing treats for sure. always made fresh and tasty. i order for my family and friends when we gather together to celebrate the holidays and birthdays. They’re always a hit! I even order empanadas when cooking just isn’t for me on a certain work day! ? and i also have to add that the staff are super friendly and always go out of their way to accommodate any order.“
“Food is always good to excellent. Good hard working regulars always say hello; many have become good friends. The Portuguese " Cheers" kind of sums it up. Karokee on a Friday or Saturday brings a mix of music from people who just love to sing and to be around good people.“
“First time eating in, we have always order combos to go and first time trying their fish, big portions, descent prices, atmosphere is not the best, parking is a pain, they have 4 spots on the back and their parking lot is share. Eating area could use some TLC but if you are there just for the food you are good to go.“
“Ate here with a group co-workers (total of 8 people) after work on a Tuesday evening. It had a casual atmosphere. The food was excellent starting from the appetizers all the way down to the dessert! The calamari and the shrimp during the appetizer was on point. The sauce on the shrimp was great dipping for the bread. For the Entree the seafood pasta was fresh and a generous serving portion for 5-6 people alone in 1 serving. We also had the picadinho, which was my favorite- excellent... not too greasy! And had a good portion of salad with steak. Then we each had a serving of different desserts that we shared- flan, chocolate mousse, tiramisu, cheesecake, and some pudding. All were delicious but my favorite were the flan and chocolate mousse. As for the drinks, we had a 2 pitchers of the red sangria and my friends had their beer from tap from their little waterfall grotto... it was so cool! We were all seated in the patio at the back of the restaurant which had a great breeze from outside on a nice summer temperature... our day happened to be rainy which was relaxing to see and hear from where we were seated. All in all the service was prompt and excellent from our waitress Rose. The owner happen to be in there during our visit and was very friendly and accomodating. And if you're in doubt just for the parking alone, there's a private parking lot in the back of the restaurant. Would reccomend this place and would come back again with family and friends!“
“MAN..... LISTEN, THIS RESTAURANT IS ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN NEW JERSEY. THE FOOD IS BEYOND GREAT, SERVICE & MANAGEMENT IS TOO TIER AS WELL, THE MANAGER, JASON IS VERY HOSPITABLE, LEARNS ALL HIS CUSTOMERS NAMES AND GREETS EVERYONE WITH RESPECT. I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY!“
“We went to my best friend's bridal shower, they recommended this place to us and the experience was excellent, the food was incredible, the cocktails were delicious, there was a DJ and a violist, the manager was super attentive!! I surely recommend the place and we will return ❤️ “
“I love ordering food from the Pit from time to time. Their ribs and chicken are always on point !Friendly service and the added outside seating is great. This a great little gem in the town of Bloomfield. Highly recommended!*I always order either the combo or the half order of pork ribs which is plenty of portion for one.“
“Been here lots of times.. Great place for Portuguese BBQ. Always delicious, lots of options and a very friendly staff. You can dine in or take out.Parking: About 20 spots in the lot next to the building and plenty of free street parking.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu“
