Great bar to go have few beer
Great people and cold beer. Great entertainment several nights of the week.
I found the place warm and friendly. Staff and patrons open to stimulating conversation. Met the owner Conan Coates and he was a delightful man to chat with on various topics. And the best open mic music experience I’ve experienced hosted by Matthew. It also has a library study area with books you can borrow or you can sit and read. Love the place.

Peter Easton is a classic ‘neighborhood bar’ just outside of the downtown hub in St. John’s. It offers a chill, fun atmosphere, perfect for enjoying live music. The venue can sometimes feel like a unique coming together of different worlds, with rowdy regulars in the main bar and philosophy lectures in one room.
For traditional music enthusiasts, the Trad Music Night on Saturdays is a must-visit. The event features a jam session with talented musicians playing a variety of instruments, including fiddle, tin pipes, accordion, concertina, lute, and guitar. The song selection is done in a circle, with each musician calling out a tune. The atmosphere is lively, with everyone enjoying stouts and the infectious energy of the traditional Jiggs, Reels, and Waltz. It’s a great place for those who want to get ‘screeched in’ by a local musician. The beer is cheap and the conversation with locals is fun.
The cash-only bar is welcoming to both locals and tourists, and the area outside may be considered "sketchy" by some. The friendly staff ensures excellent customer service, making everyone feel at ease. Despite the casual ambiance, the pub does NOT need an update; it maintains an authentic East Coast pub experience. The VLT's were also available. Overall, Peter Easton offers a one-of-a-kind experience, blending diverse elements and catering to both locals and visitors who appreciate the charm and character of the venue.
