Beyond the smelly and unattractive entrance you will find a well laid out restaurant with open kitchen. As the past tenant was a bank, you can dine in the former safe room. The main courses descriptions were not appealing so our meal was composed only from appetizers: raw and warm. Yellow fin tuna tartare was abundant and well seasoned. Just out of the fishing season, the crab legs had been frozen: basic but delicious Tomato based Fish soup was a pleasant change from the traditional chowder. It had a nice heat to it. Mussels were big and chunky cooked in a delicious broth with tomato and garlic. Most deceiving was the wine selection. Nova 7 Benjamin Bridge 2020 is a sparkling, sweet with 6.5% alcohol content that barely qualify as a wine. We exchange it for a common French white. Although Laurence Féraud is located in Chateauneuf du Pape, that white wine was wrongly advertised as a Côte du Rhone blanc.

The best dining experience in St. Johns without fail. Bring your wallet though...relax and enjoy. Nothing cheap about here! Never felt snoodyness or uncomfortable in this atmosphere. One would think with the clientele that frequent here, it would feel "that way" but it's got it's Newfoundland charm down to a tee. They welcome anyone and treat all the same! RECOMMEND. The food is divine!

I don’t believe there’s anything quite like it other than in Montreal - perhaps! This is fine dining at its best in Canada. Attention is paid down to the last and finest detail. You won’t find better quality, taste and presentation anywhere. Their building is indicative of what you may expect. When the owner goes to such lengths to locate inside such such a beautiful building, you may imagine the enormous effort put into each plate by the chef. The staff is second to none. You will not be disappointed.

YUM! Raymonds certainly doesn't disappoint. Visited the end of 2020 and I'm still dreaming about the Parsnip & Apple soup. It was hands down the best soup / appetizer I've ever had the pleasure of trying. For the main I had the Pork and it was equally as tasty, the grilled cabbage on the plate really brought the flavours together, YUM! Our server was friendly & attentive. The wine was delightful. While it is on the more expensive side, if you're looking for a special evening, Raymonds is the place to go! You truly get what you pay for in my opinion.

The 5 course tasting menu was absolutely amazing tonight!

Food was very tasty and original. Steak and duck were cooked beautifully and the sides were original, healthy and very tasty. We left full. Desserts were original but wished there was a larger variety. Overall, a great dining experience. Service was also excellent.

Great evening with excellent food and service. We had oysters, parsnip soup and tartare as apps and duck and lamb as mains. All highly recommended and the tartare especially so!

The food was delicious however when I arrived I was seated at the bar, not an actual table and was informed that the dining room had been booked out that evening. I have zero issue with this but I should have been informed prior to arrival. I didn't mind being seated in the bar area if we had been given a table, but were promptly seated at the actual bay to eat our $100 meal. I asked the waitress if we could have one of the 4 empty tables and she spoke to a manager and we were moved (thankfully).

I booked a round table for 7 to share a holiday brunch with the gals in the family - service was excellent, food great and we throughly enjoyed the experience. Well done !

My main complaint about the food is that having a lettuce salad with eggs benedict is a poor combination. We ate at 11:00 am, and having lettuce for breakfast is not something I would ever eat. There should have been some fruit. That would have made more sense. The sauce for the eggs was very bland as well. My order came with hash browns which were like eating pure grease. The restaurant's ambiance and service were lovely but we chose to eat here for our 1st time because of Raymond's reputation for top quality food, so I can't tell you how dissappointing it was.

Had an exceptional meal to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Enjoyed the 5 course meal with wine pairing and loved everything about it. Made this special occasion memorable.

It has been awhile since we last dined here (pre-COVID restrictions), and was looking forward to our meal. The food was good (though the portions a little too big for a tasting menu - the amount of food took away from it's enjoyment). The dining room was much more noisy than I remember - the two of us could hold a conversation, but it would be difficult for a larger table to converse without raised voices. The biggest negative was the overall service - staff were not as responsive as in previous visits - I generally don't complain, but we didn't have water at the table for the last 3 tasting courses (yet were refilled three times during dessert). I'm not sure if this is due to COVID driving a lower amount of staff, the holiday rush, or something else. It will be awhile before we go back, and likely not until we hear some feedback from friends that service has improved.
