The Battery Cafe Reviews
So happy when the The Battery Cafe opened where the old groc & conf had been. Not only is it a welcoming & relaxing place, with a delicious selection of pastries and great coffee, it's morphed into a cultural hub with nightly offerings of music, poetry, storytelling. Love this is in my 'hood.
Intimate and interactive live music with Janeil Chantelle.
Such a cute cosy place to go have coffee in the heart of St John’s. I love stopping by. 🥰

The Battery Cafe is a charming spot offering a homelike atmosphere and friendly service. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing experience with options like mocha, London Fog tea, homemade soup, and crafted sandwiches, including gluten-free options. It is a great place to stop before or after a hike, with indoor seating and a takeaway window. The cafe has received high praise for its quality food and helpful staff. Customers especially enjoy their baked goods and appreciate the welcoming environment. The staff go above and beyond, even assisting with special requests like gift cards during postal strikes. After a hike around Signal Hill trails, many find this cafe to be the perfect finish to a fabulous day, with treats like ginger molasses cookies and gender-forward bathrooms that provide free period products. The cozy design makes it a popular spot for meeting friends, working, or relaxing. Visitors have enjoyed sitting by the window to look out at the harbor or relaxing on the patio after watching the sunrise at Cape Spear. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with quality drinks such as cold brew and macchiato, and tasty food like the chimi chicken sandwich and toast. While the space is a bit tight and seats could be more comfortable, the friendly staff and arts supporting artists make it a memorable place. However, the menu is not very creative, and the cafe closes early, which can be inconvenient for those working late. Overall, The Battery Cafe remains a beloved local spot in St. John’s, with potential to improve and become even better.
