If you're into live music and local bands and artists, it's a really enjoyable night out. The bar isn't drowned out by the sound if you're trying to have some conversation and even at its busiest it isn't crowded to the point of discomfort. The bar service was really quick but when I was there recently they ran dry on a few different beers that I preferred to order.
If you're going down to a show that looks like it will draw a big crowd and you want a table, it's definitely best to get there earlier to make sure you can get one.
Live music!
While visiting from Florida with my friend Lester I dropped into The Black Sheep on a Friday night and found on stage an iconic guitar player, singing a wide spectrum of song that thrilled the audience. He even brought an incredible singer up to do a few duets. Their harmony was amazing. I found out that the guitar player is Roger Howse. I hope on return visits to The Black Sheep I will find him playing again. The club is a very nice place with great atmosphere. I found the beer cold and at fair price. The service was fantastic. The club is conveniently located on George Street. Myself and Lester would highly recommend this club and can't wait for a return show.

I went to the Black Sheep on a Friday evening while visiting from Florida. I wanted to see what it what it is like on George Street on Friday night. I went into the Black Sheep and found an incredible show going on. Roger Howse music was playing guitar and singing. The guitar playing was as good as it gets with all types of music and song. The club was very nice. The beer was cold and reasonably priced. Service was fast and friendly. The washroom convenient and clean. I highly recommend The Black Sheep for an evening on George Street.

Great soundstage and atmosphere, local brews and a steady stream of top notch artists of all musical styles. There is often a cover charge, but it's totally worth it to see talent perform on a professional stage.Highly recommended!!
The Black Sheep is a bar dedicated to the music, and supporting local artists. No VLTs, no TVs, just great music, cold beers, and friendly service. It's a mom and pop shop run by a friendly couple - not big business.
