We went in today to celebrate my sons birthday. Waited for the food for 1 hour 15 minutes!! They brought 2 out 4 plates with wrong sides and 2 of us didn’t get utensils. We ordered 4 steaks medium-well, one of them was medium! We ordered 7up and received plain soda. Additionally I’m not sure our waiter was sober. For $320 I would expect a better service…. Would not recommend. And they didn’t offer a discount or dessert for the inconvenience like any other place would do.

I fell in love with this restaurant. There was a snowstorm that day so it was not busy at all due to it. The two staff working were extremely polite. Menu has a bit of everything on it. Prices are typical for downtown st. John's restaurant.Highly recommend the baked brie appetizer and the NY style cheesecake!Parking: Parking is paid on street if you can find a spot or paid garage parking in a few locations. Bit of a walk, so if you have mobility issues might not be a good fit. Street has shattered disability parking spots but they fill up fast.Kid-friendliness: They don't have a kids menu and the chairs in our section at least were high sitters. But thus restaurant is more directed at adults than children.

Once we got past the reservation issue, it was clear sailing! Parking was a breeze and our table was ready. Lots of music, people and drinks/food..... an unmistakable party vibe is alive and well tonight at The Gypsy Tea Room. Heather, our server was in a word "sharp". Orders were taken with great care. Cocktails served, bread for the table. In short order our meals were brought out. This part was impressive......keep in mind it's New Years Eve. Each dish was well presented, hot, prepared as promised and in the end, just delicious. Deserts /freshly brewed coffee followed. Bill was very reasonable . So here's the thing. Dining out on New Years Eve is risky. It's very often a "hit or miss". Not tonite at Thr Gypsy Tea Room. With Heather at the wheel we had a wonderful experience on all fronts. Thanks! We'll be back.

We've ate here once before on the pedestrian mall. Just a quick appetizer. It was great and we vowed to try dinner sometime. Let's start with the restaurant itself. The bar and front room are very nice. Big windows looking on WaterStreet. A great place for a casual night with friends or significant other. Lights were low and folks looked to be really enjoying themselves. We had a dinner reservation and were seated in the back dining room. Had no idea this space existed. Beautiful open beam ceiling, comfortable seating, an inviting bar area with seating and a fantastic playlist in the background at a perfect volume. Feel this is equally important to a review. The atmosphere can really make a difference with a meal. We ordered the mussels special. The veggies and broth were super flavorful. All the mussels were open and easy to pull from the shells. For dinner my wife had the wild mushroom risotto. I had the duck duo. Hers looked fantastic and she confirmed it was outstanding. Only my second time having duck. I'd imagine if duck was cooked to perfection this was what it would be like. We finished up with coffees and a shared piece of cheesecake. Chocolate shavings, caramel sauce and some whipped cream on the side. Let's finish our review with staff. All the staff looked super attentive and helpful with other guests. Our server was super helpful with recommendations, number of visits and banter. I'm reminded of a business trip to Chicago. I said to my wife on the drive home that Pizano’s Pizza has The Chach but The Gypsy Tea Room has The Doug ;). All in all a fantastic evening and we will do it again. Thanks so much for a fantastic meal.

I cannot say enough about the the positive experience our group of staff lawyers and invited guests had at our Christmas party on December 15, 2023. From the tasty mocktails (which can be difficult to achieve) and delicious "hot" meals to our personal, attentive and friendly servers, Ally and Isabella, who served our large party with ease. Ally and Isabella were an absolute pleasure to deal with as were other Gypsy Tea Room staff! I would recommend the private room for events and have, in fact, booked our Christmas party for 2024!

Excellent service from Doug & Matt for our first annual Haiti fundraiser. Adam helped us pre-order & everything went smoothly on the day I had the turkey sandwich with red pepper soup - it was perfect and full of flavor We hope to have an event here again - very pleased Thank you!

Our small company Christmas dinner of about 24 people was held at the private room at the Gypsy Tea Room on November 25th & all I can say is BRAVO!! The room/atmosphere was fabulous, the meal was enjoyed very much by all who attended. I myself had the Beef Tenderloin which was the best quality I have ever had in a restaurant setting, it was beyond delicious & cooked to medium rare perfection. All the other guest repeated the same sentiment & rave review for their choice of either their pasta dish or the salmon meal. Kudos to the chef & kitchen team! Biggest accolade has to go to Doug, who tended on us all throughout the evening which such charm, grace, efficiency & skill, we all were thoroughly impressed by him & our overall evening spent at the Gypsy Tea Room ~ 5 stars indeed!

Had our first! But won't be last work Christmas party. It was absolutely perfect. Doug our personal server was incredible. His service, his personality and knowledge has us blown away. Can't say enough good about him. The food was Devine!. Not one complaint, beef was chef's kiss and the salmon as well. Pasta was the best pasta I'd had in years! and oh my goodness the desserts. Atmosphere and vibe really hit the spot as well! so much so we rebooked for next years work Christmas party before we left...everything was 110%
