Loved the food specially the burger. Short rib was really good and a must try. Food, service and the atmosphere all were pretty good. Food is little more expensive than other neighbouring restaurant. Menu for brunch has less options but all the items we tried were pretty good. Its better to get a reservation as it is pretty busy all the time

Merchant went above and beyond! The service was incredible! You can tell a good restaurant when it's always busy! The staff went out of their way to give us an incredible experience! The food was nothing short of amazing! Our appetizers were incredible but i have to say the Chicken Supreme I had as my main.... it was a ratatouille food critic moment. Still thinking about the sauce and veggies that accompanied it. Can't wait to go back!

Service was okay but seeing we were first ones there probably helped. The food was terrible, my wife and I had the steak. The meat was tough, high fat content, and sinewy. My comment to my dining partner, I think it was a “mercy killing”. The steak itself was 75% fat or inedible. Very disappointed and expected more from this place, NEVER AGAIN! ???

We had the cod nuggets and tuna tartar. The nuggets were great and the tuna tartar was outstanding. Great service, beautiful decor and wonderful atmosphere.

The best restaurant in St. John's! Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. I brought a swiss friend who studied at the Hotel Management School in Lausanne and he was blown away and the whole experience from the outstanding service, the cocktails, the appetizers, entrees. He was super impressed!
We had the private dining area booked for my husbands 40th birthday. The service was excellent and food was delicious! All of our friends had the best time. We were loud and moving around a lot so it was great to have the private area and the waiter had immense patience with us. Really helped to have the best time ever ❤️

Brunch was just about ok. Meal was quite messy to eat and a little bland for the price. For a Raymond's brand I thought it would be better. Service was sub par very little interaction...server did not seem like she wanted to be there. No cappuccino as machine was broken. Overall, not what we were expecting for the price. Had a great meal at the Merchant about a week ago, and it was up to their usual impeccably high standards. Great service, food was fantastic.Highly recommend for casual up to pretty fine dining. Perhaps the best Beef Tartare I’ve ever had, and a great pasta meal as well.

We had the best evening and the absolute highlight of the trip was this meal and their tasting menu with the wine pairing. Tracy knocked it out of the park with the wine, particularly when we threw some curveballs. She's a genius! Thanks for a great evening with great food and amazing wine.
Food was amazing! Service was ok. They couldn't keep up with drinks last night but in all fairness they were super busy. The steak I ordered was probably the best steak I have ever had at a restaurant. The staff were friendly and did their best. 4.5 stars out of 5!

The merchant tavern is an amazing experience, it's only fault is how loud it is, I feel the sound system covers the noise from having an open kitchen, perhaps there is some other resolution, padding to absorb the sound? Putting some glass or something up to prevent sound from getting to the customers ears? I enjoyed the food the service everything was impeccable, besides the sound it was too loud but not night ruining.
