What a lovely place...so cute and cozy. Drew said that Abuelita's is the real-deal for New Mexican cuisine. So, I had to have the Huevos Racheros. I ordered mine with sunny-side-up eggs...which were perfectly cooked. The waitress recommended the red chili because she said the green is too hot for her. She was right...the red was perfect. Drew ordered the Tamale Plate. But, there was a hick-up. As he was cutting into the tamale he noticed that there was meat. We don't eat meat. The waitress said it was pork and that is how it comes (even though there is no mention of pork on the menu,) Anyway, she took it away and Drew ordered the Cheese Enchiladas which he said were very good. The Sopaipilla were amazing...light, fluffy...not greasy...just perfect. If you want to explore real New Mexican cuisine that is delish in a very cute place...Abuelita's is it. What a perfect way to start the day.

My dad and I were in town visiting from out of state and I was craving authentic Mexican food and Abuelita’s hit the spot just right!!! It was absolutely delicious 🤤 I had the Tamale plate with Christmas chile(red&green) and wow soo soo good! You can taste the fresh taste and I will say if you cannot handle spicy food maybe try the Cheese Quesadillas because I had those for my daughter and those were delicious as well!!! Highly recommend stopping here!! They are open Mon-Fri 8-3pm 👍🏼

Abuelita’s, a beloved local restaurant in Bernalillo, has been a part of the town's dining scene for over 42 years. This establishment has been owned and operated by three generations of the same family, beginning with the Romero family, and is currently run by Kevin and Ruby Lasoya. Family photos decorating the walls adds to the restaurant's charm. During my visit, Ruby's evident pride in the restaurant was clear, and I observed her warmly greeting locals by their first names and inquiring about their families. This speaks volumes about the restaurant's strong ties to the community and its loyal local patronage.

For my meal, I chose the Enchiladas Abuelita’s with red chile, accompanied by mashed beans, Spanish rice, and a fresh sopaipilla with honey. I also ordered a side of chips and salsa. The chips were notably good and, like everything on my plate, appeared to be homemade. While the red chile was on the milder side, it was flavorful, though the chicken was a bit stringy. The standout component of the dish was undoubtedly the perfectly prepared Spanish rice.

To conclude the meal, Ruby graciously offered all customers a complimentary dessert of homemade custard. This custard, reminiscent of a French crème anglaise with a hint of cinnamon, was divine. Overall, Abuelita’s is a wonderful and popular local spot, cherished by residents, and embodies the charm of a small town. It's definitely a place worth trying if you find yourself in the area.

Went in ordered my breakfast with a side of bacon. Never got my side when I asked she said she can add another order for another 5 bucks. So since I paid for the first side and didn't get it i subtracted $5 from the tip. Lucky I even left one after that.

My husband and I and my sister-in-law went there for lunch. The place was packed and only one waitress for about 12 tables. We waited awhile for the waitress to take our order. When we finally got our order, both my husband's and my food was so salty, we couldn't eat it. We should have returned it but the waitress was so busy, we just paid and left. We will never go back .

Abuelitas is an iconic, authentic, family owned restaurant, the one in Bernalillo is our family stop for over 30+ years.
My mother knows them personally because of our years and years of eating family meals there, I have so many wonderful memories. The food is like Mom's home cooking, and the Chile never disappoints you, it's hot and delicious, that NM roasted savory hot green is a must, but can't live without the tasty red.
My to go to is Huevos Rancheros X-mas, eggs over easy, and a puffy Sopapilla with honey to tone down the ? and a side if those crispy fresh papitas. Thank you Abuelitas for your amazing food, see you this weekend!!

It's okay. I come here maybe once a yr. It is not memorable or desirable. They are never really busy, but the busser keeps asking, "How is everything?" The beef taco meat is not very seasoned. The busser cleared all plates, and the chip basket in one heap, smashing the chips in the basket so hard that many flew on my face. The service needs to be supercharged and refined. Is it the worst? No. Is it the best? Absolutely not!

My daughter took me there for lunch. It was busy. It's only open for breakfast and lunch. Staff was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, many options to choose from. A nice experience.

Parking: The parking lot is smaller than most.

Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is uneven, potential trip hazard.

The staff were very friendly and flexible, and they were also very efficient. We were very great for for their food recommendations, which were amazing. The tamale they recommended was delicious, and it alone was worth coming back. The bathrooms were clean, which is always nice. The food came out relatively quickly, which was greatly appreciated, especially by the kids.

Kid-friendliness: This restaurant was very flexible with the requests of children who didn’t have tolerance for spicy foods.
