Very average food quality for the high price. I didn't care for their pricing scheme. Their signature steaks are just that.....a steak on a plate. You want a baked potato?... That's $7 extra. Salad? $7. Grilled asparagus? $7. When you are paying $60 already for a ribeye. The saving grace of the experience was our server, Gina. She was pleasant, helpful, and attentive without being obnoxiously over attentive.
Terrible service and food. Rushed rude and inedible. Save your money stay away. Waited 10 minutes to be greeted and was made to feel we were an inconvenience and waiter was busy. Though there were only 4 tables with people in restaurant and two waiters. Only got worse after that
Knowing the world is short staffed, I rarely go out dining and if I do, I do not expect good service. However, I frequent Juniper since it is on my way home and after a long week, I can easily stop in for a lemon drop and ribeye. This is the place I recommend to all my clients and fellow associates for dinner and drinks. I appreciate the spaced seating, the to die for bread rolls and how about those Brussel sprouts and mushrooms?! The fireplace is a nice touch and sets the tone for the evening. Bonus, I play a $50 bill on my way out and occasionally it pays for dinner and gas.
My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here with a phenomenal dinner. Everything we ordered was excellent. We started off with a French Onion Soup and the Seafood Stew. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my husband had the Rib Eye Steak, which were perfectly cooked. Our sides included a fully loaded baked potato and asparagus. We were gifted a free dessert, which was delicious.
My group of four friends split steaks and sides for dinner. One friend and I split a wonderful New York Strip. Since I couldn’t eat the sauce because of a food sensitivity, they served it separately. We shared a dinner salad with the dressings we each wanted on the side. We also shared the grilled asparagus which were cooked perfectly. Our two other friends got their own filet mignon steaks and shared salad, asparagus, and a yummy baked potato. The pastry rolls were flaky and delicious! All of the service was very accommodating for dividing up things and my dietary needs. The only down side was a greasy tasting and cool bearnaise sauce that tasted more like old hollandaise sauce. I will be back again when I’m in town.
We went for Valentine’s Day, They were late seating us about 20 minutes after our reservation. It took another 20 minutes to get drinks which was two waters, one ice tea and one beer. Service through out dinner was slow. My salmon was over cooked and the two steaks did not taste very good. I would not recommend this place!
We stayed overnight at the Santa Ana Star Casino and were deliberating where to go for dinner. We did a walk around and found Juniper Steakhouse adjacent to the Star’s casino floor. The dining area was reserved until 8 so we sat at a high top in the bar area. We split a delicious 18oz Ribeye and added loaded baked potato and serving of Brussel sprouts with bacon. Everything was delicious including wine. We salivated but did not order extra large wedge salad observed at a nearby table - looked delicious.
My husband and I had dinner yesterday, he had scallops and the iceberg wedge salad and I had the dinner special filet mignon shish kabob with rice and spinach, plus a delightful truffle sauce. The food was outstanding and the service was awesome. The management is working on improving the dining experience and they are certainly achieving this..this was the best experience we have had at the steak house (and we are picky)...The atmosphere was relaxing, the drinks were great and food was outstanding, overall it was an excellent experience...I am seldom dazzled and I was dazzled yesterday.
The service was great. We appreciated the private room for our family of 14. However, we made our reservation for 6 pm because we had children in our party and it was 1 hour and forty minutes before we got our food! We understand the difficulty of getting responsible servers these days, however, this was too long of a wait. We purposely made the reservation for an early time in order to avoid the dinner rush hour. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. It took forever to get just our drinks. The chef was most gracious to personally help with a relative who had special dietary restrictions. I was told I could not order a frozen drink because they did not have a blender. What? Where is the restaurant manager and what is he doing ? Very poor impression for a restaurant of this caliber and prices!!!! Actually, inexcusable! The steaks were excellent, as we had heard, but the red snapper was not. Wait for food was entirely too long when the restaurant had plenty of advance notice for our group size, time, and date!!! Service receives a 10. Steaks a 10. Preparedness 3. Not recommended for children.
Somewhat over priced. However, having said that, the service, food and drinks were very good. Entrees are huge; but waaaaay too large for most people to eat…especially seniors! (Seriously: a 14 oz steak or 12-16 oz prime rib!?! It would be nice if smaller portions were available.). All sides are ‘ala carte’ and are $7-9. Without drinks, plan on $100-150/ couple.

They had a special Wagyu steak for Father’s Day and our daughter wanted to take us there for our monthly filet steak dinner. Decided to try the Wagyu steak and what a disappointment - very chewy and tough meat - my wife hardly ate her steak only ate the spinach and mash potatoes. My wife says not to complain since we usually eat for free due to vouchers. I recommend this place since we frequently eat lunch or dinner there - just don’t get their specials.
I had to fight with the stake you got to be kidding me to serve a stake with its membrane still on it is despicable and to sever a Seared Tuna Ahi still ice cold like it was sitting in the fridge for a few days. Especially coming from a high end restaurant. When you sear something you give it a little bit of brown. a $115.68
My parents had Covid a couple of months ago they are better now but are still really tired. My mom called junipers 2 days before Christmas to see if they could order out and was told she has to come in to pay first. She went in Christmas Eve to pay and was told don’t worry about it just come ahead and order and pick up tomorrow it’ll take about 20 min. She shows up on Christmas Day and says she wants to place a to go order. This really big man whips around and yells at her we don’t do to go. My mom stood up for her self, she explained the phone calls and was told no. She politely asked to be seated and she would order and they could bring left over boxes to the table. They refused. She offered to sit at the bar and order and they refused. She was told the Chef said he couldn’t do it. She pointed out the chef ultimately works for the customers. BTW my mom is in her 70’s. She said come on it’s Christmas Day during a pandemic and on 2 separate occasions some one who works there said it could be done. After 1 hour they finally agreed to fill her order but rudely told her they again do not do take out and they are booked solid for New Years. My parents love this place. We celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary there. This type of service, especially during a pandemic at Christmas when people need to help their neighbors was exceeding disappointing. If they had said no take out the 2 times my mom had an interactions with their staff I could totally understand. But this was Christmas, during a pandemic, and they said it could be done.
After being turned away from Bosque Brewing (checkout that review) due to their kitchen closing at 8pm due to wind, we checked our phones to see what was open in the area. Juniper Steakhouse popped up. So we called to see if their kitchen was still open and if we could get a table but we got an answering machine instead. Tried calling again, went to voice mail again. I looked them up on OpenTable and they were not listed…SO, our family of 4 with two hungry teens head over and after having a hard time finding parking and walking quite far, going thru security where they took our photo one by one we go up to the Juniper Steakhouse. The hostess tells us that they have no tables and that we should have made a reservation, valid but I told her we tried to call but could not get a human to speak with. She then went on to tell us that our sons (14 & 16) are too young to dine there, I almost hit the floor from shock…I said "WHAT? You have a bar AND separate dinning room". She said that is their rules "no one under 21 allowed to dine in the restaurant ". If that isn't age discrimination I don't know what is. Where are all the lawyers out there?????????? I'm still in shock of our Friday night experience in Rio Rancho, our failed attempt to patron local establishments. As I mentioned in the Bosque Brewing review we ended up at a chain restaurant that welcomed and fed our hungry family. Thank you SEASONS52
Started with green Chile artichokes dip. Very good, should save some to top you steak with. Nice warm bread served Prime rib and Filet arrived, good timing Asparagus was one of the sides ordered, just did not have much taste, was ordered grilled it just did not hit the mark of the other sides. Cream brulee: wife really enjoyed Yes I will eat hear if in the area they are just starting back in the swing of things after several closures.
