We had a good experience while just found the majority of the food ok. We did have the queso that had a green/hatch chili base and that was amazing; I loved it. The chilie relleno plate was ok but not great as it was standard.The table had various other meals that were ok. The food was fresh and ok flavor.Service while here was great. The waitress was responsive, quick, and attentive.

Good local restaurant with plenty of room for families. My only complaint is the fajitas only came with 1 tortilla and no rice/beans. Maybe that's just the way things are served in NM. As a Texan not used to that. But it was fine, I asked the waitress about the tortilla and she was happy to provide me another no charge. The chili con queso is soooo good though. I've never had anywhere and it was delicious. Service was excellent we really liked the waitress. I'd come here again if I was traveling in the area.

I came here several times after work, and really enjoyed the food until I ate in the bar. I usually get the taco plate or whatever the special of the day is, and I made my usual order, this time a taco plate and the $3 can of Tecate beer. The place was about 1/3 full, and the food arrived in about 10 minutes. It was hot but not well spiced. Usually, I get the beer served first, with a set of chips and salsa. The waitress had disappeared and I went to the (overwhelmed and exceptionally rude) bartender to ask for my beer and chips. She told me in an angry fashion that she served the whole of the restaurant and was too busy to find my food. I asked for my beer and she said I would have to wait my turn, about 5 minutes. I went back and finished my food without water or beer or chips. I paid out front (server never returned) and asked the beer be deleted from my dinner. The hostess summoned the bartender who came out with arms crossed and chided me 'I told you to wait your turn". I asked for the manager, resulting in the bartender storming back off to the bar. The hostess apologized, and told me the tacos were on the house. It would take more than 3 free acos to get me to step foot in there again. If you're expecting a good experience, avoid the bar. If you're expecting a great experience, go elsewhere.

As passing through tourists, we luckily spotted Lucy’s full parking lot, and knew it was the place to eat in Carlsbad. We loved the attention to detail by making sure every item was ordered to our liking from the type of cheese we specifically wanted in our queso dip to the spice heat level: mild, medium, or hot. Jen was attentive and friendly and the service was swift. Lucy, the owner, personally took the time to check on us at our table and left us with the feeling she tries to make everyone feel welcomed locals and tourists alike. It was indeed a lucky choice for us and could be for you as well. Go and enjoy Lucy’s for quality homemade attention to detail Mexican dining.

Food was decent but service wasn't. Took 30 minutes to get drinks. My margarita was SO weak and watery. I had gotten a frozen margarita. When I complained, a blonde woman came over to argue with me and tell me that frozen margaritas are like that and everything is measured. I couldn't even taste a hint of alcohol. I handed it to her and told her that I didn't want it and that our conversation was over. They did end up making me one on the rocks but it was a lot of ice and little margarita.People coming in after us ... Much after us were being served looonnngggg before us. We never got salsa refills despite asking multiple times.Food was decent but not nearly the best Mexican food I have ever had. And I don't go to a restaurant to have someone come out and argue with me. I wasn't mean about my complaint ... Just asked for it to be corrected.Restaurant manager ... Get your girl in check!Won't be back.

The food was amazing. Chris our server has been working here for a very long time and had many great recommendations. Great specialty drinks and signature food items. All items are fresh and made from scratch. You must eat here when I'm Carlsbad.

Stopped in for lunch and had the Pecan Crusted Salmon. It was good, but I think the pecans need to be chopped more to be considered crusted and it needs more of the sauce it's cooked in. IMO. I had two of the Lucy Margaritas and they were the best in Carlsbad! Service was super fast and polite and place was very clean. Chips and salsa was very tasty! Will definitely eat here again!
Fantastic place for supper, great margaritas, we had a couple…and authentic Mexican cuisine. I had the Tucson chimichanga, wife had the plato loco. So good and flavorful! The reviews are surprising, this place is great. Service was fantastic too! We are just passing through but if we lived here I’d come back.

The best queso and chili rellenos ever. If your in Carlsbad NM don’t miss this. We even met Lucy and had a great server-Kris!!! We asked a lot of questions about the difference between New Mexican and Mexican food which Kris explained. Kris made great suggestions which we followed. Great food,great service and a delightful experience!
