I went through this area during a blizzard snowstorm as a homeless person experiencing an insane amount of cruelty at the hands of other people and the owner/manager was incredibly generous and helped me to get a hotel room at the local hotel. It was really nice of him and I will never forget it. My tent never would have made it through the snow.

We drove through Chama on our roadtrip and stopped at Subway, it was super clean and everything tasted fresh. We were hesitant pulling into town but were super hungry and glad we stopped. The owner keeps everything spotless and was very friendly.

I realize that, in such a small tourist town, this place doesn't have to try very hard as they don't have to relay on repeat customers, and it Really shows.The place was very run down and dirty, doors for propped open with chairs, no maintenance have been done at all on the place so every leak stain on the ceiling was left, holes in the walls were never repaired and the bathroom looked like an old service station restroom.The food was covered but the lettuce had oxidized and many of the other choices looked limp and old.I got a roast beef footlong meal. I can't exactly put my finger on what was wrong with it, it's simply was incredibly bland even though I had asked and saw him add salt and pepper to it. The bread felt doughy but it looked done. The place was run down and dirty but I can't really explain what it was about the sandwich that made me take three bites wrap it up and throw the rest to the birds.Just down the road, probably less than a mile, is a barbecue restaurant called serious Texas BBQ and it is delicious.There is also the Elkhorn Cafe outside of the Elkhorn Lodge and it is, likewise, very good.There are not a lot of choices in Chama, but one of the worst that you can make is the Subway.

I have always drove passed this place going out of state but was hungry when I got there so I pulled in. The place had a nice chill atmosphere and the people were very kind and quick to fix my sandwich. It's definitely worth stopping on

management makes sure ingredients are fresh and quality. Yes a little more expensive but the effort for maintains quality, I don't mind paying extra.

Bathroom clean, sitting area clean. But only two types of bread, no meatballs, and prices comparable to a dine in restaurant in town with more options and way better food. Not to mention the sandwiches were sloppily made. This place isnt even worth a quick stop. The worker was pleasant tho.
Travelers beware!!! I made the mistake in stopping at this Subway, if I had known what I was about to experience I would have delayed lunch until the next town. There was only two choices of bread and very few choices of meat. I asked for a meatball sandwich and was told they had none. I said, okay we just eat what they have, no big deal. We ordered two 6” subs meals, but when I went to pay the charge was $30.81 and when I question what I thought was a mistake I was told “I don’t set the prices” This is not my first time eating at Subway and by my experience these prices were extremely high. I should have left the sandwiches and walked out, but I chose to keep the peace and settled for this review so other travelers are not ripped off by another greedy crooked business. What is this world coming to.

My self and my wife went to Subway, Chama and when we went into their shop it was 95-98 temp. We finally got out sandwiches and took them home. The workers behind the counter making our subs kept trying to get down to cold meat and made our subs. We got home and had dinner around 5:00 pm. By 9:30 my self and my wife started to feel ill. From 10:30 til 2:30 we spent all night vomiting and did not get any sleep. PLEASE DO NOT GET ANY FOOD FROM THEM. IF YOU DO, GOOD LUCK.
