The restaurant was perfect for our crew (704-N) coming off a 12 day trek at Philmont. The waitress was friendly and got our orders off quickly. The pancakes kept coning and we enjoyed every bit of it. The owner and cook staff were great. Delicious food and great atmosphere.
The Thanksgiving dinner was the best food I’ve has since leaving the Deep South. Nothing was dry or overcooked. Everything perfectly spiced. The cooks here know what they are doing!
Had the Valentine's dinner last night with my wife and it was amazing. The staff did an excellent job. Thank you Rhonda for bringing Mountain Magnolia to Cimarron.

The fries are a must-try, described as ultra crispy, hot, and well-seasoned. The service is excellent, with the owner providing top-notch attention and a great sense of humor. The menu features delicious options, including the chimichanga burger with two sauces on the side and Granny T’s chicken tenders with corn and potato mashers. The staff did an excellent job accommodating large groups, and everyone was friendly, making guests feel welcome. Recently, the restaurant received praise for its great service, with one server going out of their way to return a forgotten charger. Kit Carson Restaurant is a highly recommended spot for breakfast or any meal of the day, especially after a long hike around Philmont.
