What an incredible stay! We recently stayed two nights in the Wyatt Earp room and had an amazing experience! The St. James Hotel is truly a hidden gem. The history, charm, and atmosphere are incredible, and the staff were all top notch. We ate several meals in the hotel restaurant and every single dish was delicious. You can really tell they take pride in everything they do here. The St. James Hotel is officially our new favorite place to stay, and we can’t wait to come back. Jorts N Fishin approved! 🤠🎣
Since my last post, eight years ago, there have been some changes. The last thing I want to do is hurt a local business, especially since it’s not easy to keep one going in this area. I visited last week with a friend from Arizona. The restaurant was very clean, and the staff was professional and friendly.
For lunch, I ordered my usual favorite — the chicken burrito with beans and rice. I’ve enjoyed it since the remodel, and it’s always been excellent. Unfortunately, this time it was disappointing. The burrito was fine, but the rice tasted overcooked and reheated, and it was barely warm. The refried beans were served in a stiff pile, also lukewarm, with an odd flavor — more like canned than freshly made. Pinto beans are simple to cook, so this was surprising. I won’t be ordering this combination again.
That said, the restaurant is still a beautiful place to visit, with a welcoming atmosphere and great service. I’d recommend it overall but suggest avoiding the rice and refried beans until the kitchen makes some changes.
What an amazing place! The new owners did a great job sprucing it up without changing the wonderful atmosphere. The history in this place of the old town west is amazing.
It was a very cool spot we visited for vacation
Soooo, they were kinda rude, like I'm a brown skinned fellow and me and my family were seated and unattended too. Then followed the food that felt it sat and got cold while other guests were served.
I understand it's a small town and small staff but it his felt deliberate.
the food here sucks don't eat here
Came here and got to the gun shots in the celling. Cool
The history was very interesting. The pictures and information was very informative and educational.
Cool old hotel that is definitely haunted. In a good way.
I will not eat in the restaurant again. It is really nice. You see the bullet holes in the ceiling, but one thing they do. If you order a entree you'll have to pay extra for the meat.

The restaurant was very slow with setting the table for our reservation. 20 minutes late with a reservation called in hours ahead.
Made dinner reservations at 7:00pm. Arrived early near 6:45pm and checked in with no issue. Came back around at our reserved time of 7:00pm and was told that we would be waiting an additional 45 minutes to be seated. Staff seemed unorganized and a touch sluggish. Our party decided that we would be dinning elsewhere. It is a shame that the James' has fallen as previous experiences have been great.
I cannot tell you how kind and courteous the staff is! I mismanaged our reservation there and they went above and beyond to find a room for us at their wonderfully restored historic hotel! This hotel is really worth a visit!
We made a reservation and called to verify it. Yet when we arrived they told us we had to wait at least 30 minutes. When we asked what had happened they had seated a large walk in group that arrived right before us. When we asked why they couldn't seat us when we had made a reservation they got mad at us and made it seem like it was our fault for not coming earlier before the other group! What's the point of a reservation then? Due to our time constraints (the reason for a reservation) we chose to go elsewhere. Disappointed.
This place used to be my absolute favorite place to eat; several times a week. Now with the new owners the menu has been cut and prices raised. The food is sub par and the service lacks the friendliness and attentiveness it used to have. Twice baked rubber potatoes and cold meals that lack flavor. Such a disappointment.
