It was a very cool spot we visited for vacation
Soooo, they were kinda rude, like I'm a brown skinned fellow and me and my family were seated and unattended too. Then followed the food that felt it sat and got cold while other guests were served.
I understand it's a small town and small staff but it his felt deliberate.
the food here sucks don't eat here
Came here and got to the gun shots in the celling. Cool
The history was very interesting. The pictures and information was very informative and educational.
Cool old hotel that is definitely haunted. In a good way.
I will not eat in the restaurant again. It is really nice. You see the bullet holes in the ceiling, but one thing they do. If you order a entree you'll have to pay extra for the meat.
Be aware
The restaurant was very slow with setting the table for our reservation. 20 minutes late with a reservation called in hours ahead.
Made dinner reservations at 7:00pm. Arrived early near 6:45pm and checked in with no issue. Came back around at our reserved time of 7:00pm and was told that we would be waiting an additional 45 minutes to be seated. Staff seemed unorganized and a touch sluggish. Our party decided that we would be dinning elsewhere. It is a shame that the James' has fallen as previous experiences have been great.
I cannot tell you how kind and courteous the staff is! I mismanaged our reservation there and they went above and beyond to find a room for us at their wonderfully restored historic hotel! This hotel is really worth a visit!

We made a reservation and called to verify it. Yet when we arrived they told us we had to wait at least 30 minutes. When we asked what had happened they had seated a large walk in group that arrived right before us. When we asked why they couldn't seat us when we had made a reservation they got mad at us and made it seem like it was our fault for not coming earlier before the other group! What's the point of a reservation then? Due to our time constraints (the reason for a reservation) we chose to go elsewhere. Disappointed.
This place used to be my absolute favorite place to eat; several times a week. Now with the new owners the menu has been cut and prices raised. The food is sub par and the service lacks the friendliness and attentiveness it used to have. Twice baked rubber potatoes and cold meals that lack flavor. Such a disappointment.
We waited 2 hours for our food and got HORRIBLE service. People who came after us and were done eating too. The waiters lie too. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS DUMP!!!!
The hotel offers tours & a little history lesson. The lady at the desk was nice, I just wish the restaurant was better. Maybe the lady at the reception desk needs to train the restaurant staff how to treat customers.
This place was terrible. Not a knock against the service they weee nice but the food was terrible. My advice to the cook take a two and a half hour trip to Dalhart Tx throw a rock anywhere in town you will hit a Mexican food restaurant and walk in there and have them teach you how to cook Mexican food. Y’all charge an extra 5 dollars for beef in your burritos and you don’t put that on the menu? What else are you supposed to have in your burrito. Bet y’all charge at least 3 bucks for chicken. All of the food was so bland and the salad looked like a pre mixed salad from the grocery store just thrown on a plate. We were all almost shitting our pants before we got home.
