the place is by far not clean and the food tastes like the way dog food smells. waitresses are picking their nose while people are eating...this is gross!!! I will never again eat there!!!

Hillcrest Restaurant & Trading Post Saloon is an old-fashioned cafe that has been around since 1949 and has not changed, which is part of its charm. The atmosphere is very dated but welcoming and cozy. The food is hardy, simple, no-frills homemade food, remaining the same for decades. Menu items include a burger, Salisbury steak, vegetable soup, Chicken rice soup, Tostadas served in mini shells, New Mexican food, breakfast, and homemade lemon meringue pie. The margaritas from the bar are fabulous. Reviews note the food can be okay but sometimes bland or overcooked, while soups and pie are delicious. The staff is friendly and the service is superb, with hard-working kitchen and waitstaff who are pleasant and accommodating even when very busy. This is a great place tucked off the main drag, perfect for a trip down memory lane or a stop during a trip.
