We ordered aguachile and they brougth some boiled shrimp with a liquid similar to lime juice. Not to mention pastor empanadas and queso were in the menu but not available. The only positive, they only charged drinks . The place is nice but food and service are not at the level

Disappointed. Reservation was for 4pm but no dinner service until 5p. Loud air handler in bar/restaurant area. We left.
Barely rates an OK. Fodors got it wrong! Terrible food and they were out of half the menus. Margaritas are solid. Go anywhere else.

Hadn't been to Agave in awhile, but had always been an enjoyable experience. Last night, however, they were terribly under staffed and had very limited food items available from their menu. Three things to choose from on a menu of about 10-12 things. Waited 45 minutes for my first drink. I had to get up and go to the bar and ask what was up? The man did end up making it then and also paid for the drink. The staff that were there were incredible and working and apologizing constantly for the slow service and lack of menu items available. The food took about 45 minutes to receive as well. For a hotel during the holidays I definitely would have expected better. Again, the people were great, as they could only work with what they were given.
Not good in any way. So disappointed! We were looking forward to experiencing this acclaimed restaurant. Sad to see.
Special holiday menu that looked amazing however the food was a huge disappointment. Soup and salad were very good but main was overcooked. Prime rib and turkey were both overcooked and smothered in a sauce. Desert was grocery store cake. Pick another place
We stayed at the El Dorado Hotel and had reservations for Christmas dinner in the Agave restaurant. The hotel staff was great even though they were short staffed because the manager had let too many people off for the holidays. This caused everyone to wait for any type service that you wanted. I felt sorry for the staff that had to do double duty. The Prime rib was over cooked also. Even so the meat was tender. I think everything would have been better if they had been at full strength.
Christmas Eve - very understaffed and our poor hostess was also having to clear tables, set tables, take orders and even removed a drunk person from another table in a wheel chair. Then, they were out of half the menu. Not her fault - staff that was there did the best they could and what we did have was delicious. But heading into a busy holiday weekend, it's best to prepare... and they didn't.
This is really directed to the leadership of the restaurant, not the worker-bees. At the end of the day, this is a disappointing two star restaurant in a five star hotel. They should reimagine what Agave could be in that context. The ambiance and seating are like sitting in a Denny's restaurant for breakfast. No one at beautiful maitre 'd reception area no tablecloths reveal Formica-like tables, over-extended and seemingly flustered staff, over-lit dining area, unimaginative and narrow menu. No "wow" factor in the food. Overall I'm disappointed and may just have had too high expectations. The Hotel Eldorado is one of our shining stars in Santa Fe, but punches well below its weight in the restaurant.

A hotel restaurant NOT a fine dining restaurant. We went on Christmas Eve, it was not super busy, the waiter was nice but he was the only one there and was completely overwhelmed. Most of the main dishes were in the 30-40$ range, however it took about an hour to get our food. Our reservation was at 5:30, it was close to 8pm when we left. We sat looking at our stacked dirty plates for 20 min. Horrible way to spend Christmas Eve dinner. Will never go back. Like Denny's w better food and high prices dishes.
Food was only OK. They charged us for food that didn't come and they were out of — but they fixed the check without too much trouble, but if we would have paid an extra $60 for phantom food if we had checked the bill.
Great place to eat at reasonable prices. All food was excellent from appetizers to entrees to dessert. Service was great (thanks Brittany) and ambience is very nice.
Excellent service. The food was top-notch highly recommend anyone visiting Santa Fe. Stop here for a really nice experience.!!
The food was very good. The service was good, however, only one appetizer came first. The rest came with dinner. Also one person ordered a salad that came with our dinner and she had to ask for her entree.
