We had a OT reservation for 6:30 pm, but were not seated until 7:10 pm. We had to hang out by the bathroom waiting for our table. They did give us a half glass of sparkling rose, but still.... This delay was not due to any unforeseen issue or problems with the kitchen or wait service, which were both very efficient, but from the gross mis-management of reservations and walk-in seating. Once seated, our server was gracious, attentive, and knowledgable. Be aware that this restaurant only serves natural wines, not my favorite. And they are VERY expensive, even for Santa Fe ($13-$18 for 2 oz pour). The medium bodied red we ordered tasted like red wine vinegar--not off, that is unfortunately what a lot of natural wine tastes like. Wish they had more non-wine drink options--alcoholic or not. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. Appetizer (grilled artichoke, figs, sun-dried tomatoes was fabulous. My husband's short ribs with risotto was fine. My sweet potato gnoghetti was dry and extremely salty, due to overpowering of the entire dish by lardon style bacon. With so many other option in Santa Fe, I am not sure this restaurant is worth a second try.
Lovely first visit/dinner at La Mama. Attentive service & delicious food. The “Lil Nosh” platter was an abundant & flavorful appetizer, more than enough for two. House made pasta made the mushroom pappardelle sing. Also recommend the “Roussanne” natural white wine.
La Mama is wonderful! The food is fabulous, the service is knowledgeable and welcoming, and the space is charming with a relaxed atmosphere.
The wait staff are all excellent. The food is good and thoughtfully prepared.

Delicious food in a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. The wine selection was great with an emphasis on interesting and less well known European varieties. At $120 / person for a family of 5 the price tag was steep, considering it was a fixed menu and excluding wine. However I should point out that this was for New Year's Eve so fair to say that it was to be expected and altogether not unreasonable. Altogether I would definitely recommend and would love to come back for a regular evening meal with menu selection. Will be for the next time we visit Santa Fe!
Very nice scandi style cafe with a brunch menu.

We started with olives and almonds. I ordered the caesar with prawns because they were out of the mushroom pappardelle. My only complaint is that they used spring mix instead of romaine lettuce. The prawns were tasty but a bit overcooked. Dressing was perfect with the right flavors. My husband had the trout and it was cooked perfectly. It was quite hot upstairs, the candles they use threw off a lot of heat. We right by the windows so we opened them right up. Service was great.
Lovely staff that is excited to share their wine knowledge and food creations. The roast cabbage was sublime.
What a fantastic experience they have tremendous seating in the front in the back upstairs inside the restaurant all over the building no worries about crowds. The staff was fantastic, and the food is fresh and wholesome.
