We enjoyed our meal at Osteria. It was a bit pricey but portions good. Service nice but not very knowledgeable on wine nor menu
We've now gone to Osteria a few times and have always had the same experience--excellent in all aspects. The food is authentic Italian, beautifully prepared and presented. My wife has some food allergies and they have no problem even modifying the preparation of dishes if necessary. The service is outstanding, they really listen and are friendly and yet professional at all times. The prices are reasonable considering the quality and the atmosphere is so nice. Highest recommendation for this Santa Fe gem.
The ambiance is nice, it's very cozy and clean inside. Our waiter was lovely initially, he made recommendations, was personable and kind. We ordered our drinks, which we unfortunately didn't love. We order our appetizers, they came and were good. The wait between our appetizers and dinner was pretty extensive. When our dinner came, my duck, mashed potatoes and snow peas were liked warm at best. The fat on the duck was not rendered so it was very hard to cut through and even harder to chew through. When we noticed the waiter he seemed shocked and annoyed but offered to take the plate back and have it reheated. They did so and brought it back to me which was nice. However the waiter went out of his way from then on to stop at our table and least 3 times and let me know that for my information anytime you order something gamey, such as duck or other, it's naturally supposed to be chewy. Again he went out of his way to do this 3 times. It's funny, I actually went to culinary school before changing careers and choosing medicine. In culinary school, my private life, and social experiences I've never had chewy/tough duck nor has anyone ever explained to me that's the standard. His dismissive, defensive and gaslighting behavior was very off putting and disappointing
I've had lunch here before and remembered enjoying it so thought I'd give it a try for dinner - not overly impressed. Burrata and tomato salad came out with beets and no tomatoes. They corrected it upon request. I had butternut squash ravioli and the edges of the pasta were hard, I had to trim them off. We ordered tiramisu thinking that it would be good at an Italian restaurant but it was almost all ladyfingers and virtually no creamy mascarpone so a fail. Probably won't go back.
Incredible! Savannah was an absolutely excellent server, the ambience is cozy, all the pastas were divine, and the mouse cake was delicious. Highly recommend!
Made last minute NYE reservations for four. It was great! The food, drink and ambiance were fun and festive! First time at this restaurant, and we can't wait to go back for a regular menu!
We visited Osteria D’Assisi on Thanksgiving Day for dinner and had a truly memorable experience. Location: Osteria D’Assisi is perfectly situated in the heart of Santa Fe, yet remains easy to reach. Parking directly in front of the restaurant is convenient—a rare advantage in such a central area. Atmosphere: The ambiance achieves a seamless balance of elegance and warmth, making the restaurant an ideal setting for a romantic evening, a joyful family gathering, or a refined celebratory occasion. Food: Every dish was outstanding. I began with burrata that was fresh, creamy, and beautifully presented. My steak was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The Supertuscan wine I enjoyed was excellent, authentic, and true to its roots. As someone from Tuscany, I can confidently attest to the quality. My family ordered a variety of dishes, and each plate was met with delight. Service: Our waiter was attentive and accommodating, especially with my children. He handled my most challenging, picky eater with patience and care, ensuring that everyone at the table felt comfortable and well looked after. Value: For the exceptional quality of the food, wine, and service, the value is remarkable. Osteria D’Assisi offers an authentic Italian dining experience that feels worth every dollar spent. Wait Time: Service was efficient and well-paced. We never felt rushed, yet dishes arrived promptly, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed and seamless meal. Overall Impression: Osteria D’Assisi is a true gem in Santa Fe. From the elegant atmosphere to the superb food and thoughtful service, everything was perfect. It is a place that welcomes families while maintaining a refined dining experience. My family and I had a wonderful time, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking authentic Italian cuisine in Santa Fe. The owner, a genuine native Italian like me, personally came to our table to greet us and share a few words, adding a warm and personal touch that made the evening feel even more special. Grazie!!!
Osteria D’Assisi is, without question, one of Santa Fe’s finest dining experiences. My family and I travel here semi-annually, and this charming spot is always at the top of our list. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, blending authentic Italian elegance with Santa Fe charm. The service is exceptional—our server, Nicola, was truly outstanding: gracious, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. Every detail was perfect. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. From the freshly baked bread to the exquisite Burrata Cheese Pomodoro Basilico, every bite was a celebration of flavor. The Lasagna Bolognese was rich and comforting, the Seared Duck Breast with Lingonberry offered a beautiful balance of savory and sweet, and the Black Angus Tenderloin Tagliata was tender and perfectly prepared. We paired our meal with an incredible Margaux, which elevated the experience even further. Osteria D’Assisi is more than a restaurant—it’s a destination. If you’re in Santa Fe and appreciate exceptional cuisine, impeccable service, and a delightful atmosphere, this is the place to be.
The staff was outstanding, very versed in the menu and asked great questions to help us select the perfect dish.

Anyone local, who goes to a restaurant for Thanksgiving is automatically spinning life’s big lottery wheel. But it came to pass that a couple devoid of children and elderly family members, one recovering from a nasty head cold, made reservations at a restaurant that was experienced and charged for the inconvenience. A perusal of the detailed prix fixe seemed to assure that the situation was well in hand.
At minute 25 ish after being seated, the drinks had still not been ordered. The table, within 7 feet of the bussing station was not unseen, it was simply ignored, as were two additional tables nearby. There was a magical bubble of non-designation. As if, after filling the places at $100 a chair, no one had assigned staff to either wait or bus. And so, when a slightly soused middleaged man appeared at the bussing station (one can only assume counting the nights take) he was pressed into service by the surrounding diners and produced a crumpled sticky note on which he misspelled the drinks order while sitting at the diners table and muttering that he “didn’t know how to do this”.
Eventually an additional waiter was snatched from his typical territory and pressed into service, food was selected. The order did change, after considering the branzino and the roasted loin, the diners concluded that trying for the exotics at 7,000 ft might be just a bit rash considering, and they downshifted to the turkey. Millions of people with dubious cooking pedigrees produce a turkey every year. It should be fine.
Wrong. It was not fine. The turkey, cut in half inch slices, like a bread loaf was served on top of a tiny stuffing blob. The bird was over brined and so salty and rubbery as to mimic a cheap ham. The petit chou were randomly chopped, al dente would be generous. The cranberry was strangely concentrated but not otherwise spiced and unappetizing to even a tart cranberry lover. The two tablespoons of mashed sweet potato were competent. We won’t even get into the first course except to say that cooked, cubed, carrots were involved. The waiter, who was also bussing, was embarrassed, and offered to pack something else to go, but, meh. There are a lot of restaurants in Santa Fe, we won’t be back for Christmas, or New Year’s or ever really.

Bait and switch. Thanksgiving 2025. Pricey but fabulous food. We ordered a $145 bottle of wine for a special dinner. They didn't have it in stock. The waitress brought a substitute, which I looked up and sent back. The owner (?) came out and talked to us, telling us the lesser wine was better, and less expensive. Looked it up, way lower cost to them, not on the wine list. We agreed to their suggestion. The bill came, we saw we were being charged the full price for the not in stock wine, and told we were getting a better deal, full price. Can't recommend, Olive Garden is honest.

Nice evening at Osteria. Started with the tuna appetizer which was a different spin on Ahi Carpaccio. The lasagna was creamy and delicious. My companions had bowls of pasta with chicken and shrimp. The desserts were also good, especially the chocolate mousse torte. The pace here is decidedly slow but I was able to rev it up a bit. Even so we were 2-hours at the table.

Both of our dishes were mediocre and swimming in oil but that was not the worst part. I was assured by my server, Mike, and the runner delivering my dish that the pasta was gluten free. It was definitely NOT! After my usual reaction when exposed to gluten which is vomiting and diarrhea most of the night, we returned the next day to speak with the manager, Jay. At first, he appeared disinterested and distracted, not making eye contact. His comment was “I’m sorry for the inconvenience.” We only got his attention after I got upset, and explained in detail what I went through. Then, he handled the situation as a manager should by apologizing and refunding our money. We asked to speak to the chef but was told that would not be possible. The chef, however, heard of the problem and came out to show me the bag of gluten free flour that he supposedly used. When I explained that I was sure I received something else, he looked at me like like was lying. Even after I explained my reaction and what I went through, he would not even entertain the idea that he could have possibly made a mistake. He did not care! He should be fired! Now I know why the manager did not want me to talk to the chef. He made it way worse.
