Hands down the absolute BEST restaurant in Santa Fe (and possibly in all of New Mexico)! Unparalleled service and exquisite culinary creations in complex and wonderful combinations that dazzle your tastebuds and create lasting memories! Chef Fernando Olea is the Maestro of Latin American cuisine! ❤️
The service and food was impeccable. Our waiter was so knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in our selections. Each dish was prepared with extra care and fabulous seasoning. Definitely a go back to experience.
Our first visit to Sazon and Chef was at the front welcoming us in ! Our server made great recommendations from drinks to choosing items in our menu! The signature soup is a must try and our featured entree Halibut so delicious! We thought there was no room for dessert... well maybe the chefs unique ice cream described bite by bite with the help of our server! So attentive! We will be back!
Fabulous, creative food and exceptional service including a personal visit with the renowned chef. This is a world class restaurant.
This was an unforgettable dining experience. My wife and I compared it to the time that we visited Pujol in Mexico City. All of the steps and courses were paced and designed perfectly. The server - Nick(olas) - was knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. Apparently he forgot to serve us a champagne toast for our anniversary celebration, but the chef made sure to correct that when he walked around to all of the tables to greet the diners. All of the other staff were professional, attentive, and helpful, resulting in a fabulous night. In terms of our beverage and food choices and how they tasted, we both had cocktails (Del Maiz was deliciously corny) and I also ordered a tequila flight. We began with the mole selections and then proceeded to 1. la sopa del amor, 2. el pulpo, 3. the rack of lamb with New Mexico mole, and 4. the catch of the day (halibut). We finished the night with the chef's signature dessert. Everything we ordered was exquisite, perfectly-portioned, and cooked exactly right. We wish that we could return to a place like Sazon more often....but it is pricey! Hence why we visited for a special occasion.
The restaurant is noisy;. Almost everything they serve has at least a small amount of fire. Except chocolate. So they put chocolate with duck breast???
We had a wonderful experience at Sazon - everybody from the Chef to the manager came by our table to enquire about our experience. Our waitress Erica was terrific and very attentive to our needs. Loved the mole flavors from sweet to hot, great presentation and intro to the desired flavor for protein cooking. We both ordered soup as appetizer - very tasty and the chocolate crumbs added to the unexpected flavor. We chose lamb and the duck entrees with desired mole flavors, plate tasted as good as it looked. To finish we had the surprise cake with 3 different flavors which came through sequentially in our mouth, loved it ! Overall, a very nice surprise and Sazon exceeded our expectations !
I enjoyed my meal at Sazon, but there were some issues with balancing the menu. Three of the listed appetizers were sold out by my reservation time of 7:45, which I acknowledge is the last serving of the night. It was hard to structure a good meal based on the remaining choices, however I still enjoyed it and had great service.
We are Santa Feans and eat at Sazon maybe once or twice a year on special occassions. Love the place because the food is interesting, the scene is very central Mexican and the service superb. My halibut was not quite up to its usual standards last night. That is why I gave it less than a perfect score this time.
Excellent! Go! You won't be sorry! A beautiful restaurant with great art on the walls of small, quiet rooms. The staff are terrific and enthusiastic, which really added to the fun of our dinner. The Chef is creative, pairing traditional Mexican moles and other flavors with contemporary world-wife ingredients and techniques. Food is beautifully presented. You start with a platter for the table of little bowls filled with the 6 different moles the chef makes, plus little corn tortillas so you can taste them all. The menu allows you to choose from a variety of dishes or pick your protein (fish of the day, duck breast, lamb chops, salmon, etc.) and your mole and leave the rest to the chef. I had a big halibut steak with the green mole, which was scrumptious (and good the next day, cold, for lunch, as I had to take a doggy bag home), and my husband had the duck breast with hot red chili sauce, also excellent. I noted on the reservation that we were celebrating my husband's birthday and he received a birthday card signed by the chef, as well as a free dessert: fresh berries with crème fraiche with a candle. So nice! I asked for a quiet table and it actually was quit enough for 3 of us to converse in normal voices. It's not cheap, but for a special night, it was well worth it.

We loved Sazon for its fantastic service and ambience . Our waiter Jordan was passionate about the food and very knowledgeable about it and everything else. Everyone was super friendly and restaurant is a fun lively dining experience. The moles are incredible, and you get educated about them immediately even if you don't try one for your meal. I would definitely go there again because it was just plain fun!
A lovely room, great staff and food and ambiance, our server was the best ever, the Chef's soup may be the best tasting thing I've ever tasted, don't hesitate to book a res! Oh, and try the Oaxacan Old Fashioned, fantastic!
We came to Santa Fe for our anniversary last year - it was incredible! We came here again for our 12th and they did it again! This time we got the duck fat tacos. I am not a fan of fatty meat but this had a crispy exterior with a buttery texture beneath and the flavor was unmatched. The sopa de amor is a must however don’t let the poor man food fool you because the black bean soup had so many levels going on and it was worth every penny. The mini corn tortillas that come out in the beginning with the mole are adorable and I with there was more of them so I could sop up all that delicious mole. I’m also not a fan of mole but apparently I just had not had it prepared the correct way. I was a bit disappointed to see there are dyes and preservatives in the jarred mole that is for sale. The decor is beautiful We hope to come back for our 13th.
Terrific. The absolute best way to experience New Mexican flavors.
OMG the White Sangria and Variety of Moles were outstanding! Duck and Lamb chops amazing!!!! 😋
